  4. 1. TITLE Modification of Kaigelu 316 fountain pen using Bock type 250 nib unit (EF, stainless steel, 2-tone) and Beaufort Ink premium Ink Converter. 2. INTRODUCTION Recently, I acquired two Kaigelu 316 fountain pens which I adore, one is ivory or pearl colored with black swirls and the other is brownish colored with orange waves. The pens seem to be imitations of the more expensive Parker Duofold fountain pens. I bought them without their box from an ebay store in China, for under 20euros each (1). Figs 1a-1b 3. OBJECTIVE However, I was a little disappointed by the nib of the Kaigelu p

    Nib Manufacture

For reference, here is a list of pen manufacturers and who supplies their nibs. I've gathered this from a lot of different sources (including older posts in FPN forums). I'll update and correct the list as I come across new data. There have been several earlier attempts to organize this information on FPN, but hopefully this is a bit more organized/centralized. For the record, I am aware (and should caution readers who are not) that not all Bock or JoWo nibs are the same. The mere fact that, e.g., Visconti and Omas both use "Bock manufactured nibs" does not mean, ipso facto, that they use th

  8. Locally referred to as the Bamboo model and also in the airmail price list as such, it is the favourite of Police writers, Court clerks and accountants. It was the only mass produced ( but still hand made using hand operated compression moulding) pen in those days which had such an humongous ink capacity and a nice true fine nib. A fine nib allows faster ink drying, uses less paper to write the same matter. So traditionally a fine nib equals economy. I have been buying airmails for over 21 years now... and I have seen the 71J made in a variety of colors. Some colors were never repeated. I

    Wality 69Ts

The WALITY 69TS is the smaller version of the 69TL. Just like the 58C being a "mini me " version of the 71J. However the 69TS has some differences. Firstly, it has a single start cap thread as compared to the 4 starts of the 69TL. Secondly, the barrel and cap have the same diameter so there is a small step up at the end of the cap threads on the barrel. The stock GP fine nib a no 5.5 Indian: As I love to experiment, one of the following pens is upgraded with the Schmidt system FH341. Bock Nibs Leaking?

Dear all, I've recently tried 3 bock nibs (all new), all with three sealed cartriges, and all 3 nibs, when pointing downwards, would collect ink quickly between the fins, and if I write like that would burp the ink on paper. None of my other Bock nibs that I've had for a while did this. Now I have another one in hand (for someone else), and it's doing the same thing, using a converter. I am sure there is no air leak anywhere, and to be honest, 4 nibs is way too much of a coincidence. What are your thoughts please?

  14. I have a question for the nib-tinkerers amongst us: can one fit a Bock Type 380 (i.e. a Bock #8 size) nib onto a Pelikan M1000, and/or vice-versa? If so, does one exchange just the nib, or both the nib and feed? Why am I asking? I found a Pelikan M1000 quite very cheaply some time ago. Alas, although the beautiful 3OB nib looks perfectly OK, it is very temperamental in practice (much more so than other obliques I’ve used). So I want to find an alternative. I know I could buy a whole new M1000 nib, but that would cost several times more than I paid for the pen. So I was wondering whether I co

    Bock #8: Titan Vs Gold

For a possible pending purchase the nib will be a Bock #8. Any user experience on the difference between the gold one and the titanium nib of that size? How do they relate on size (M to B , flex (and perhaps stub or not)? Currently I have a Bock #6 titan B in daily rotation. The new one can use some extra caracter (titan M stub, gold B,...) I suppose it will be possible to testwrite the nibs, but some user experience might be very usefull of course.

Pens For A Bock #5 Nib

Hello good friends, I purchased a Bock #5 nib, which I managed to fit into a Vac Mini. The pen wrote a little on the dry side. I saw that there was a small gap between the top of the nib and the bottom of the feeder. As I didn't want to fiddle too much with this fine pen and nib, I decided to go back to the stock Twsbi nib. Now my nib has no home, and it's just wandering around aimlessly in my drawer. So, I was wondering if you know of a cheap pen (< $30) that would work with a Bock #5. Your input is much appreciated.

  21. Suppose I have a pen of an unknown brand which I know comes with either JoWo or Bock nibs that are customly engraved (not the usual Bock or Jowo engraving). I know how to unscrew the nib section from the pen. But how to identify that it is a Bock or Jowo nib?

  23. Pineider Avatar UR Review - Riace Bronze – Fine Nib Full Disclosure: I bought this pen because it is the same colour as my cat. She can use it to work on her meowmoirs. Raison d’acheter: I've been trying to reduce/narrow my collection to pens I know I will use on a regular basis at the office, and this one fit the bill. The bronze colour caught my eye and I pounced. I’ve justified purchases with worse reasons than fur colour, trust me. I found a discount code, ordered the pen from Pen Boutique, and got a free bottle of ink, a free vial of ink, and a free leather pen pouch thrown in. They ship
  24. I'm looking at https://rangapens.com/, and they offer a large variety of nibs in their handmade pens: Schmidt, Jowo, and Bock, steel & titanium. I'd hate to just guess and then have long round trips of shipping from US to India for swaps & service, so I wonder if anyone has some thoughts on: * How soft or springy do the various brands and materials tend to be in broad-point and medium-point? I don't write flexy-style, but I like a little bounce on the nib and paper. * Are there general trends of wetness vs dryness across the brands and materials? I know this depends a lot on tuning
