  1. I was looking at getting another Japanese fountain pen. I found the Sailor Pro Gear Slim Mini which looks like something my brother would enjoy, he loves small pens with very fine nibs, so I thought I'd get one for him as a present. He is studying Japanese and currently uses a Pilot Elite 95S EF that I gave him when he was accepted to university. However, I was disappointed to see that the Slim Mini is only available with a MF nib. So I wonder, is it possible to find it anywhere with an EF nib? Or if not, is it compatible with any other Sailor pen, so that I could just swap the nibs? Also, h
  2. Hi All FP aficionados (or enablers), I am considering buying a Sailor Pro-Gear Tequila Sunrise (large) and wanted to have some feedback on the Sailor Pro-Gear and its relative value current value & longer term value (is it worth it? )...(2nd part i know is a loaded question). At $ 300. tilting toward buying it. Normally I would do a bunch of research reading/watching reviews etc. before making a FP purchase, so this is a time sensitive question and will wait 'till tomorrow to decide... Factors: It is new in box, choice of M or MF 21k nib I: collect these things, but I think I

    Music From The Ocean

Music from the Ocean It was a little fight for the Slim or the Standard one. Would the Slim be too small? Would the 14k nib performs bad? As I had the Standard already, also the price is just half of the Standard, I give the Slim a shot. A slim review: Outlook: Normal package with converter, normal excellent quality, zero complaint. Oh I love the THICK center band (KOP induced?) and is in shinny chrome details, I always prefer chrome than gold. (The center band of the regular Slim has two ring lines). And the color is a special, a voyage green blended with little blue I think, and the w

List Of Sailor Pro Gear Colors

While the 1911 is my go-to writer, the distinct shape of the Pro Gear has a special place in my heart. The goal of this thread is to encompass Pro Gears of every color ever released. This makes categorizing a little bit easier for us Sailor fans. The following models are included: Pro Gear King of Pen, Pro Gear, Pro Gear Realo, Pro Gear Slim, Pro Gear II, Pro Gear II Realo, Pro Gear II Slim, Pro Gear Mini, Pro Gear Slim Mini. I need your help! If you have colors to add or find errors (i.e. duplicates) in the list, please leave a post below. Solid Colors 12th Anniversary Blue & Gold A
  5. Very recently I have developed a keen interest in the "ink" side of the fountain pen hobby versus the pen side. The Japan store exclusive inks in particular such as the wonderful Kobe Nagasawa ink line. Up until now my ink choices have tended toward the safe European brands such as Montblanc, which sadly don't offer much in the way of sheen, though do often produce nice shading. My new interest in Sailor inks has seen me build up a small collection of Sailor Pro Gear fountain pens. The Sailor Pro Gear Slim in particular. When you have a million new inks to try, the cartridge converter fi
  6. PRELUDE What would be the one Sailor pen within my budget, which I could keep even if I would let go of all the other Sailors? Having not quite a smooth experience with a few Sailor nibs, I decided upon the exciting & costlier option of a Nagahara tuned speciality nib, instead of taking another pen with the stock 14k or 21k nib. Below is a link to the review on my blog: Sailor Pro Gear with Naginata Togi Nib Review My last Sailor was a Pro Gear Sigma Slim which is reviewed here. However, for these speciality nibs, you can have a long waiting period of not less th

    Sailor Pro Gear Macro

Just for fun... Can't see all that ink in the nib with the naked eye, looks kinda neat!
  8. Hello, I placed an order for what would have been my grail pen (OMAS Brown Arco Milord with a broad nib); however, it is looking like the retailer is going to be unable to fulfill it (RIP OMAS). As they were unable to fill it, they have offered to refund the purchase price, or replace the pen in the order. I find myself drawn to the Sailor King of Pen Pro Gear Sky Blue; however, there does not seem to be a lot of information about the KOP Pro Gear on FPN. I am a bit hesitant to order though, mostly due to the size of the pen. I am worried that it will not be long enough to use unposted
  9. The Morita Store in Osaka has a special color Sailor Pro Gear (and other models) in a gorgeous robin egg blue. They do not ship outside of Japan. An FPNer just posted on Facebook how she ordered two of these pens on the Japanese site, had them sent to a shipping site in Japan that sent them to the US. That sounds really difficult to me. Does anyone know an easier way to source one of these gorgeous pens? Thanks, Susan
  10. Hello FPNers, Could not wait to share my happiness on the newly acquired Pro Gear with the NMF nib. Grabbed a pad and wrote a few lines with it Full review to follow soon.. Sorry for the dull pictures, you know mobile phones (promise will fix them in my next review ) http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag127/soniknitr/IMG_3673_zpsccc4nugo.jpg http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag127/soniknitr/IMG_3674_zpslffcgrhe.jpg http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag127/soniknitr/IMG_3675_zpsfjq1wqbw.jpg http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag127/soniknitr/IMG_3676_zpsppbgnrkb.jpg Happine

    Sailor Realo Disassembly & Maintenance

Good morning, I am considering purshasing a Sailor Pro Gear REALO piston filler. I haven't found anywhere instructions for the disassembly of the piston mechanism, nor how easy it is to clean the reservoir. Any help, video, link or testimony would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  12. Hi, When posting the Sailor Pro Gear Std and/or Pro Gear Slim/Sapporo, what enters in contact with the barrel of the pen? Does the cap has an o'ring inside? I am wondering if the body of the pen gets scratch marks when used often.
  13. Hello, I bought a brand new Sailor Pro Gear Imperial Black FP with medium nib. But I have a problem with it. The Ink flow is very poor. When I write with very very lower angle and press hard, it is ok. Using Normal angle, higher angle and light pressure caused problem. I checked the nib tines, I didn't see a misalignment. It writes scratchy and dry. What do you offer about this problem? I ask your help, please. Best regards. Cengiz PS. I attached a writing sample.
  14. On a recent trip to Osaka, Japan I decided to stop by Mr. Morita's fountain pen shop. I picked up a Sailor Professional Gear in a wonderful "robin's egg blue" color that was specially made by Sailor for the Morita Pen Shop. From the photos online, I didn't think the color looked like a "must-have" but when I saw it in person it grew on me really quickly. I noticed a serious lack of decent photos of this pen online so I thought I'd upload some shots that try and show the lovely color of this exclusive pen.
