    Like Diamine Syrah, But...

In the few short months I've been involved with fountain pens I've bought and used around a half dozen ink samples. My favorite so far is Diamine Syrah. (Most of the images online show too red [or my sample isn't red enough!], but this FPN review is what I see on Rhodia paper.) Although in gel pens I tend toward dark colors (black, green-black, brown-black), so far I've found I like medium tones like this particular brown with a hint of red. I like it more than the cartridges I have in the darker Diamine Chocolate Brown. But... I'm a lefty and this ink's long dry times are getting me down. And the ink feathers on cheap paper I sometimes need to use (at least with a M nib) What are some alternative mid-brown inks that similarly have a hint of red in them that I might want to consider trying that dry faster, perhaps while also being more paper-agnostic? (Not too red though - for example I like Diamine Oxblood but not pages of it.)
  2. Hello FPN, I am a student and is wondering whether to write in cursive or print in my exams. My worry is that my cursive may be less legible than my print, which may subconsciously affect the markers opinion on my work. I have attached a picture of my handwriting, both in cursive and print, I would love some opinions on the best type I should use in exams. Thanks
  3. Hello, I am handwriting lover, in school, in college etc I always focused on my handwriting, I used to be obsessed that much with my handwriting that I used to change my handwriting daily in the school but after a long journey of this I finally made my hand legible enough to get a better grip on paper, so I have uploaded a sample of my handwriting here, my question is that 1) tell me that what type of handwriting is this? 2) Is this handwriting suitable for exams? 3) Is it legible and easy to read? 4) Is my handwriting beautiful good looking or bad looking? 5:) Should I continue to write like this? and please also rate my handwriting out of 10. Thanks.

Pens Back From The Write Pen

I just got my first batch of restored pens back from Danny Fudge. I haven't tried any of them out yet but they look gorgeous, and I couldn't be happier. He did the work quickly and beautifully and for a great price. Now to select the next batch to be sent back.
  5. How do Private Reserve American Blue (Fast Dry) and Electric DC Blue compare? They seem very similar, but would either of them be better (even slightly) for schoolwork? I have tried samples of both, and i'm having trouble deciding which one to buy a bottle of.
  6. Hi all! I'm looking for a black ink with a fast drying time for use on regular inkjet/office paper. My previous focus on inks has primarily been towards permanency and flow but now I need to find something that will dry fast and not feather on cheaper paper. Anyone got any good ideas, preferably for something I can source quickly in the UK. With these qualities in mind I hear good things on this site about J.Herbin Perle Noire, Waterman Black but if there are any others please let me know. Thanks, Badger
  7. Hello fountainpennetwork.com, My problem is concerning handwriting, I have been struggling to improve my handwriting since years but could never been satisfied with my own handwriting so I moved to www.fountainpennetwork.com, I have attached photos showing my handwriting, I write in 20 different fonts but I am confused which handwriting should I use in college and exams, please see my handwriting in photo attached and tell me which one should I finalize as my handwriting and please answer following questions. 1: Can I use Italic writing in exams? 2: Is it better to write on the line or in middle of 2 lines? 3: Is Italic writing good or non Italic? Looking at my photos tell me which writing is suitable for me and help me improve my handwriting. Should I write in such a way that bottom of letter touch line or should I write in middle of line help me please. Thanks and please reply quickly its urgent please Thanks.
  8. Hi All I have viewed a number off posts on this site in relation to handwriting. All beautiful, stunning writing thank you all. Most of it seems to be done with pens for calligraphy, flex and italic nibs. It also seems like this writing is done at a slow to steady pace. Recently I acquired a OMAS & Pelikan with Italic Nibs for everyday use and currently waiting for OMAS with a Stub Nib. Are there any post's of people using these nibs for everyday use, showing everyday writing samples done at a normal everyday pace? Or Would people be kind enough to post their samples here? Could you also put name of ink used? Many Thanks Regards rrs
