Added a review of the Duke Century: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/313958-duke-century-review/

Interesting original design by Duke. Not a pen to ignite a huge fuss, but a competent stab at an original design, showing Duke know what they are about.

Regards,

Richard

As promised, the photo of the two Crocodile 806's

http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx356/richardandtracy/Reviews/Crocodile%20806%20Review%20Photo%208_zpshcocvloc.jpg

The blue one was described as 'Navy Blue' and only looks like it does in the photo when subject to a camera flash or in the sun. In normal room lighting conditions it looks very restrained and decorous, a slightly more interesting version of the Onoto Magna Classic Blue. It really is a tremendously elegant and restrained colour. Shame the clip is not quite so tasteful.

Did a review of these pens here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/312018-crocodile-806-a-good-quality-duofold-alternative/

I have a grey one in the post, and hopefully it'll be like my daughter's one.

Regards,

Richard.

Thanks Richard

Those are pretty nice, and to be honest, I don't particularly mind the croc clip, as it's part of the pen after all (a Crocodile pen at that).

I had a look, and I do like the blue, and rosy red versions.

I had previously read your review, but I didn't connect the review to the pens you mentioned the other day.

And, yes, it's another pen for the list.

Cheers

Ian

Yesterday I was about to go and clean up some of my pens in storage and guess what, the little guy of the house found it first and claim it for her as a pillow ;

post-130682-0-59439500-1476368045_thumb.jpg

anyway I got to get to my cache later in the day and this is what I have finished cleaning and having for today, my just cleaned and tuned Wing Sung 801 with EF nib, this basically the same as the Wing Sung 803 except its got a plain steel cap with no engraving; instead its always had the model silk printed to the cap end ( you can see the first character in the picture ). This is also a somewhat scarce Dark Blue transparent material which is quite unlike all the other 80X series ( well its so dark that its almost opaque but its transparent alright , not just translucent ) this trim had only ever offered in this model and its always equipped with EF nib. The photo really do not do the material its just. Its not just dark blue , its a dark blue with a purplish pearlascent tone showing. Its also a finger print magent and even slight handling get it looking a bit dull from the oil of the skin.

Yesss!

You just gotta love a big scaly dragon.

I went to ink up my silver version after seeing yours Helen....only to discover that I'd run out of Baystate blue. :(

BUMMER!

I've not got my silver J1200 out for ages. I have a problem with these pens. They write quite competently, so that's not the problem. It's, well, a little bit silly.

I normally have my pens in my shirt pocket. The J1200 is so heavy that when it bumps about, I get a bruised nipple, and it gets unbelievably tender. The net result is that I don't use the pen much.

Today's pens are the Duke Century I reviewed here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/313958-duke-century-review/ and a H7022 I've been trying out for a month or so. Must do a review now that I feel I've got to know the pen.

Regards,

Richard

Richard

I owe you an apology..

When I read your post above, I admit it, I laughed out loud....and quite heartily too.

What a strange place is the fountain pen world we live in.

Again

Apologies

Ian

That looks like a Huashilai 3000 without the company engraving on the cap lip ( https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/98558-huashilai-3000-tiger-eye-marbled/ ). Certainly the best Huashilai I've tried (from the 3000, A053 and 2210).

Today's pen is my blue croc 806. Smashing pen.

Regards,

Richard

Edited to add, how strange, no pens called 'Huashilai' on Ebay.com. I wonder if they have been absorbed by Jinhao.

Richard, thanks for the clarification. I have two of these pens - the other with a white/black veined cap. I purchased these pens well over 10 yrs ago. The cap clip reminds me of a Jinhao clip, and with no name engraved, and having replaced the nib, I had lost track. Here is a snap of the other Huashilai 3000.fpn_1476886853__huashilai3000white-black

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
