I really like this bag:

Swaine Adeney Brigg

but eehm, no way I'm gonna pay 1600 bucks for a bag. Even for me there are some limits.

.

Swaine are great bags, but very very expensive. I have one of there padfolios from classicluggage.com

The leather is top notch, but still way to expensive.

Is it that nice? I always wondered but never had a chance to see them in real life. How is the leather, more the stiff saddle leather, or does it have a more buttery smooth feeling to it?

This one is Havana brown a d although that is not a bad color, for this money I would like to have a black one

The Swaine leather is stiff Bridle leather with a Silky smooth feel.

I have the Chestnut padfolio and love it.

I also have shopped at classicluggage.com and their customer service is ever so friendly and helpful.

With the current exchange rate, even adding to postage to Australia is quite economical compared to the price of leather goods here.

That said, I use a beat up university portfolio made by Jack Georges which is none too pretentious but large enough to hold my daily gear and has enough slots for several of my two-pen cases, ballpoints,Visconti travel inkpots and fountain pens!

My favourite bag however is a notebook messenger sleeve by Waterfield Designs / SF Bags http://www.sfbags.com/

Made in the US (for you patriotic types), exceptional customer service and quality. The notebook sleeves come in all sorts of sizes so you can order the exact specification for your notebook. I have the one to fit the Vaio Z128GG and it's light, well constructed and built to last. By far the simplest and best notebook messenger I've ever used. They also have a variety of more capacious bags available to order.

My favourite attache is alas not made anymore but I purchased a traditional tan, belting leather attache from Boston of Atlas which I carry on more formal occasions.

In Rotation: Parker DuoFold Centennial / Duofold / GvFC

In storage: Too many to name.

At the moment I have a small Synapse backpack from Tom Bihn, which is superb for hauling around the 12 pounds of stuff I seem to need daily.

Well thought out design, clearly not something thrown together, nice materials well made and unobtrusive.

But it's not something you want to take with you if you wear a decent suit.

I also have this bag in black:

Castelijn en Beerens

But it has no shoulder strap and isn't entirely my style but it does it's job as far as it goes. Leather is nice, but no where as nice as SAB.

So I hope to acquire some day a Swaine Adeney & Briggs Westminster Wrap SS.

But it might take some time :)

First off, I *wish* my boyfriend would decide on a bag for all his stuff (ipad, phone, batteries, etc) so that he will STOP putting it all in my bag.

Second, I will be buying the Tom Bihn Ristretto in the near future as my "go to" bag. It will hold my 13" laptop and my essentials.

I've had a Tom Bihn Messenger Bag that I bought when I was in school (for the fourth time) and it really held up all those books during that time period.

Were I to do that again, I'll be trying out the bags from < Crumpler >

I have had several crumpler messengers but they where bulky on the outside and way to limited in internal space. I had a 17" messenger that could hold less extra stuff than my Tom Bihn Synapse small backpack that is design for and carries a 13". But Crumpler is made well with good materials and a strong construction.

I ordered a Levenger Briefolio http://www.levenger....2-3|pageid=4630

I've gone through a series of brief bags and found that they're overkill for my purposes, and I was carrying a lot of weight unnecessarily. I basically want something to carry my papers, some mail, and a few small miscellaneous items. I also no longer want anything hanging off my shoulder. So I think this will fit the bill.

I use Utrecht's Studio Backpack Because it's got boatloads of room and lots of marker space.

Otherwise, I use a brown and orange Northface backpack that I love. I can't find it anywhere on the website, though.

Advertising your amazing blog in your signature can be an eyesore, unless done tastefully.

So can you, kind sir, make time in your schedule to visit my website? It is perfectly acceptable to miss out on such a great opportunity, but even the slightest glance at my url would be fantastic. http://greenlineblogs.blogspot.com/

My Chrome messenger bags have traveled 1000s of miles with me and still look brand new. For lighter duty, I use a Ben Sherman messenger bag (a pretty good deal on guiltman.com) or a black leather accordion briefcase when I feel like being professional.

I use the Ristretto as my everyday bag, and it's great. It also works pretty well as an overnight bag in a pinch. I once stuffed it with an extra t-shirt. socks, underwhere, 13inch aluminium Macbook, charger, phone charger, large Webbie, and a small Rhodia Weekly Notebook.

If TB brings back more colors, I'll pick up the Buzz to be my new work bag though. Work laptop is bigger than my Macbook and won't fit in the Ristretto.

Here are a few quick and dirty shots of my satchel, which I took for Paul Hurst's thread.

It's made by a Melbourne family company - no international brand.

The strap is nice and thick, to allow for extended over-the-shoulder carrying. Plenty of room for pens, notebooks, laptop and miscellaneous stuff (e.g. scarf, beanie).

I'm a Timbuk2 kind of guy, these bags are really hard-wearing and have excellent waterproofing. I have a red one covered in ink stains.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
