Thank you so much Christof!

Your collection is wonderful!

Apologies to all Lamy Safari enthusiasts for not updating my history of Safari post inspired by Christof and Chris data.

Juggling holidays celebrations, gift giving with local business online store and pickup with the need to booster against Omicron and making sure extended family clusters and friend, all over the world are also safe.

I didn't have time to focus on that post, because I want it to be accurate and useful, it will take time.

Interesting photo.  I like how you've sorted them by color.

But I'm not seeing the 2021 "White and Red".... B)

Thank you.

I should have mentioned, that my photo shows the different colors only, but not every variant of the Safari.

Congratulations on completing your collection Christof 🎉

Here comes the latest (and last) update of the table:

hi Christof,

received this today, first time I have seen a list produced by Lamy.  Not as comprehensive as your, but does include the model number issued by Lamy.  Something for the geeks like me 🙂

...Tippfehler hin oder her, die Liste ist leider nicht vollständig.

The list isn't complete. There are missing most of the early colors. Why only listing the Special editions? (...and was Griso really a SE?)

Are you sure that this is officially from LAMY??

Hi Christof,

sorry don't know why it doesn't list the early standard editions....  But I'm happy it a Lamy list as it came from a Lamy rep.

Thought I would post it as I've never seen a list produced by Lamy and it included the model numbers they had allocated.

I bet lamy never thought of pen enthusiasts and that we would be obsessing about what pen was sold this year or that.

I think we need to find pictures of school children in class in Germany where you can see the pens they have this way we can confirm the pens release dates.  Astronymus contact the university of apfelstrudelhausen and get us a professorship We have a research topic, I am going to guess this falls under industrial design history

Yesterday, I got this from a dealer in Hongkong:

I think that the color of this China Special Edition could be exactly the same as the announced "Stawberry" . It seems that they have to economise at LAMY...

Thanks for posting the photo, christof.  I'll admit that I think the black clip is more attractive than the matching color clip on this year's "Strawberry".  And the black nib just adds to it, the way the black clip and nib set off "Dark Lilac" (my first Safari).

So interesting about the new Strawberry!

I need to check that file from Lamy, but the true reference is Christof's and Chris.

Since the Pantone color of the year is Periwinkle, we might be lucky to get a textured Safari in that color a little bit paler and bluer than Violet.

One can dream.

Well, when the Dark Lilac came out a few years ago, there was someone on FPN (don't remember who now) who had been petitioning Lamy for a purple Safari for several years at that point, and was just EXULTANT at Lamy actually finally doing one.  When I finally decided I wanted one, I was originally thinking going really silly and getting a pink one -- but didn't like the color when I saw one in person.  And then?  Dark Lilac came out and it was ALL OVER.....

Hmmm.  A Periwinkle Safari. I don't know whether I'd like that color unless it was really different from Violet.  A Periwinkle al-Star, OTOH?  Oh yeah.... :puddle:  I would DEFINITELY buy one of those, assuming it wasn't too close in color to last year's Azure (maybe a bright color, the way the Vibrant Pink al-Star is).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
