M 800 Renaissance Brown

Tracking showed that mine arrived at local post office early this morning, so I should see it sometime this afternoon. At least it made it through Chicago quickly this time without getting tied up in customs for an extended period.

No update from LCDC at all...curious. I don't like to chase people but maybe I'll ask for an update...

I recall reading that not all nib sizes had arrived at once. I ordered an EF - is it possible that this is the reason for the delay?

Mine arrived about an hour ago. Love the color, subtle but with a little flash. Loaded mine with Diamine Rustic Brown which seemed an appropriate color.

When I asked last week, Dennis said he was still waiting for B nibs but had received EF, F, M nib pens. Perhaps he didn't receive enough for all orders in the first shipment.

Why not shoot him a quick email to inquire about the status?

That's what I did, and my pen was shipped out the next day. Dennis is always a pleasure to deal with. He has given me superb service on several occasions.

My last note from Dennis indicated that the medium and extra fine nibs came in and the fine nibs are due next week.

I'm waiting for a fine. I also have two other pens overdue and awaiting shipment from them. I think this all hit the same time. Pelikan mishandled the shipments at the same time LCdC was moving to a new place. I'm being patient...for now..lol

Inquired for mine with B yesterday and got a response today. It seems we need patience, Dennis confirms that the B's have not yet arrived.

I have a M and a B ordered, so that is obviously why I haven't heard anything yet. But I'm patient.

Big sigh of relief from me, then; my first shipment pen came with the B as ordered. And very nice it is too. It did seem a bit slow to ship, given other members had confirmation of shipping days earlier, but that could well just be where I was in the queue.

Wesley of LCdC just emailed me that my Renaissance with B nib arrived yesterday. Shipment will be either today or latest tomorrow. Finally...

Everybody, grab a loupe and check your pen for the defect mine has as I posted above. I'd hate for anyone to have the same defect, but better to notice BEFORE inking it so the return process can be easier. Just sayin...

I hope this means my B nib will be shipping out too!

Eric, mine should arrive Monday. I'll check it carefully, although I've never seen this sort of defect in any of my other (numerous) Pelikans.

I'm betting it's a one-off. Let us know how you like it when it arrives! And thanks again for letting me test drive so many of your pens!

You're most welcome. Be sure to sign up for the Pelikan Hub on 9/22. These are a lot of fun.

I usually do, but I have always had a conflict and not been able to go. I generally have to choose between the actual pen show or the Hub and I always choose the pen show, lol.

Wow, my package cleared the San Francisco customs in half a day last Saturday. :yikes: In and out just like that. I didn't even check because I assumed it was going to be a few days and now tracking says it's going to be delivered today.

I'm enjoying mine.

Sorry about the light - it's snowing in the mountains here today.

Mine arrived yesterday. A careful examination reveals no defects. Haven't had time to clean and fill it. I'm very pleased with the color.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
