None of us knows how long he shall live or when his time will come. But soon all that will be left of our brief lives is the pride our children feel when they speak our names.

It has a genuine looking snowflake, held in place by a screw from inside the cap.

A W Germany inscription on the left of clip and serial number on right,

A split ebonite feed with a two tone 18K engraved nib, which is not magnetic.

Three rings on cap with MEISTERSTUCK  No 146 inscription

Light-blue Solid, non-striated window,

Piston cone is brass threaded.

Cap transilluminate ‘red’

Absent ‘Pix’ anywhere, But Pix was introduced in 1997 or so...

But what is interesting is that the Cap   ‘does not’ have metal threads.

Question:

Does the cap HAVE TO have metal threads inside. Is there a version without metal threads inside?

Can I have the opinion of experts on this pen which I have dated to be from around 1991 provided it is said to be genuine. Can send further pictures if deemed necessary.

Thanks

Your version is basically identical to what I often refer to as my favorite 146 save for yours having an 18K nib(which IIRC is a French market issue on the 146, not a specific time frame). Mine is W. Germany w/a serial number.

I don't recall any of my 14x MBs having metal threads in the cap. I just looked at the 149 in my pocket and they're not, although it's a late 70s model.

In any case, split ebonite feed+functional piston filler etc I would be shocked if it's fake.

My pen does have W Germany inscription with a Serial number.

Do you mean to say that this version with a 18K nib was specifically marketed in France ?

The metal threads inside the cap was something I read about and whilst demonstrating ‘transillumination’ one can often see an opaque threaded part, so I assumed that was a standard.
Thank you for reassurance about authenticity.

Looks good. Congratulations.

As bunnspecial says: the resin 146 pens have never had metal cap threads.

I'd say it's legit.

If you want to know more, I'd start a new thread - this one is over a year old and on a different subject. You'll get more response to a new topic.

Enjoy the pen!
