I have considered purchasing one of these. They are elegant pens. I also like the Egyptomania ink—I think that I like all murky green inks. I guess that OB or OBB would be the way to go.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Hi Tom,

I was wondering if you could answer this question since you've had the Egyptomania fp for quite a while, is the fp prone to drying out like the other heritage pens as mentioned by another member in this thread? I am contemplating on getting the same fp with an F or OM nib.

Anyone else experience issues securing an Egyptomania?

I placed an order for a M nib resin Egyptomania with a well known European pen retailer in September 2020… coming up on 10 months soon!!!

I have followed up a couple of times, but they have advised that Montblanc has a significant COVID-induced backlog 🙁

I've placed an order from a well-known European retailer as well. The message I received is that there is no "delivery time available or any indication" at present.

Did you end up receiving yours? I suspect if I'd known there might be a 10+ month waiting time, I might have picked up a different pen...

I 've owned a doué F for months now. Zero dry out whatsoever.

I've also ordered a black M to be stubbed from Apelboom. I can wait.

I had ordered it from a B&M where I live. Nothing showed up after 9 months I cancelled.

Have been told that folks at Montblanc work at 50% since covid. Also egyptomania is more difficult to produce.

Why take the order then without a heads up on the delays which do not seem potential but definite?

I made an order about 3-4 weeks ago. I don’t mind waiting, so I’ll leave it for now.  It will be even that more special if I wait it out.

I quite agree. My only concern is not receiving the pen at all after a 10 month wait...

~ @AndyLogan: Thank you for asking about the Egyptomania fountain pen on my writing desk.

In my case, the Egyptomania has an EF nib.

It's been inked with Montblanc inks.

There has been no evidence of any drying out.

In late January the pen was taken from southern China to the Persian Gulf, then north over Iceland and Greenland to Chicago.

At no time was there any leakage, drying out or difficult starts.

The pen has been in daily use for all of 2021. The mass of the barrel feels comfortable for extended note-taking sessions.

Based on my limited experience I'd recommend the Heritage Egyptomania Resin without reservation.

Mine was ordered 4 weeks ago.  Still no sign of delivery but I've decided to wait another week before asking for an update.  My birthday's just over 2 weeks away and I'm still hoping it might arrive by then!

I have a heritage 1912 F, two spiders, and egyptomania duet F. Only one Spider has skips and was sent to Montblanc three times. They said one batch of feeder was defective.

The good part of Montblanc is, they will always fix something for you as long as you are not happy. Normal turn around time is in days if no nib exchange required.

I know, it's tough.  Maybe it's just around the bend and about to arrive.

I went through the same with a Conid Order and the pen eventually arrived.  I was happy that I didn't cave in and ask for a refund since I wouldn't be able to order one now even if I wanted to.

Courage!

I'll be sure to post back with a time-frame once I've received mine, in case that helps anyone. I'm also considering the Around the World edition but expect that it suffers from the same hobbled logistics.

Tom, I'm wondering if you could comment on how the Heritage line ef nibs compare in terms of fineness to the regular Meisterstuck ef nibs? Any difference in terms of line width?

Hello, dears,

as I were one of many who booked (ordered and paid) for a MB Egyptomina Doue FP at the famous European dependable MB distributor and keep waiting for three months with no set date for delivery as MB were not giving any committed date for the shop, I reached another dependable source (authorized distributor as well) located in Italy and successfully got my pen in a Fine Nib.

I would like to share with you if you would like to contact Mr. Stefano and arrange your order with him if you like and with no responsibility on me of course. I asked him and he confirmed that he got some of them yet in his stock and would welcome any deal with him.

The online website has a very interesting other models as well and he makes both youtube & Instagram for his shop exclusive FPs.   Stilograph Corsani: Penne Stilografiche Roma - Penne Stilografiche Roma e Vendita Online Penne, Orologi, Pelletteria

Thank you @massoh. Buying a fine for me would entail sending it to a nibmeister. Not impossible but another 3 month wait subsequently, so I'll hold on a bit longer.

Nevertheless, appreciated.

Can anyone confirm if the regular black model barrel is lacquered metal as in the Rouge et Noir? Does it have the same weight?

No, the barrel is made of resin. The cap is resin too but it has an inner CNCed steel jacket. So I guess the inner barrel is also steel. The resin is just a decoration.

I only have metal version otherwise can show you x-ray images.

I have not noticed a difference in terms of line width.

The MB Egytomania has a resin barrel.
if you have a strong light source you can ray the barrel. It can also used to check if the pen is a fake or not.
The resin should reddish glow.

Last year, I placed an order for an Egyptomania with an F nib. I had walked in to my regular brick & mortar pen shop, only to be told that they had had one in stock for a couple of days, and it had been sold earlier that same day. So I ordered it, hoping to have it in a month or so.

13 moths later, on Tuesday this week, I stumble upon this thread, and see massoh's post about a vendor in Italy that has a few in stock. I almost pulled the trigger on one of those.

Then yesterday I get a call from my local pen pusher, and he tells me that he just got the pen in the door!

So now I, too, am a happy Egyptomaniac :-)

 - oh, and for those who are still waiting for theirs, all the hype about the wonderful characteristics of the nib on the Egyptomania is completely justified. It's marvellous!
