Mb Egyptomania

~ The pen release was originally planned for this month, but production was delayed in Hamburg due to public health events.

The ink is being marketed as a special sort of zinc green, rather than blue.

It will be available in the Elixir packaging with a distinctive Egyptomania motif.

~ Cyrille:

When the postponed Heritage Egyptomania models are released, I anticipate acquiring a Resin model in EF.

I'm also looking forward to adding the Elixir Egyptomania special green ink to my writing desk.

In any case, 2020 will be a memorable year for all of those who appreciate Montblanc's Hamburg artistry.

Tom K.

For some reason Montblanc is mostly off my radar

(whenever I reach a budget that could suffice to expand beyond my 146, and a couple of lower range vintage MBs, I always find some other - pen - priority...)

I don't want to bring the thread too much off topic, but Tom, would you mind summarizing for me why 2020 is a MB memorable year? thank you so much

Thank you Tom, then it's mostly surprises we are still waiting for.

I did notice the Petite Prince in bordeaux, that one looks rather nice...

Yes, it was available but not anymore. The pen pouch is interesting with old Egyptian hieroglyph in the cover. Let's wait... wait...... we cannot comment anything here, but the stores can leak the information.

Yes I prefer the Egyptomania pen pouch to the one of Victor Hugo. Just need to wait its release by MB with the pens :)

Have you noted that the firs glyph on the top of the hieroglyphic design is the Aegyptian gliph for “mountain”? I can not find a “translation” of the remaining glyphs, but may it be that the entire hieroglyphic is a ”reconstruction” in ancient Aegyptian of the name “Montblanc”?

Yes, it seems that MB decided to write its name in ancient Aegyptian in this version.

Wow, the BP does look amazing, I think something in my head just broke.

Me too, I really liked the ballpoint, more than the FP. However, it sounds too expensive for such kind of model.

Yes, white mountain is apparently the hieroglyphic translation, according to the London boutique.

He said the ink and pens would be September.

I can confirm what other posters have said that the 72 (?) edition is frankly the most impressive pen I've ever handled, a true delight. For my budget, the midrange silver version will have to suffice. The resin-only version felt too light.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
