Dear Tom,  thank you for this photo. What a beautiful fountain pen!

Posting the cap on this pen is not practical, am I right?

Kind regards, Matt

~ Hi, Matt!

Until the present, I haven't ever posted the Heritage Egyptomania Resin EF.

The mass of the pen itself is such that it's adequately comfortable in the hand without being posted.

It's a quiet, unobtrusive pen, which was the reasom that it came to my writing desk.

I enjoy using it in public settings where others wouldn't likely recognize that it's a Montblanc fountain pen.

Great photo Tom and great pen :)

I received my Doué few days ago:

~ Bonjour, Cyrille!

Thank you for posting the nice image of your Heritage Egyptomania Doué.

Like you, I have the Egyptomania green ink.

The EF nib on my Resin model is ideal for writing small notes in French, as it writes appropriate diacritical marks over vowels with precision.

Mine is inked in L’Artisan Pastellier Callifolio Andrinople.

They're superb pens to end 2020.

Tom K.

Anyone bought their's with a B nib? If so, is it stubby?

There are not many pens that I've felt a really strong urge to get of late and this is one of them.  Usually, the urge never goes until I have one.  Just mulling over the B vs M.

Have you ever tried an oblique medium or oblique broad?

Not with a modern Montblanc.

The B, the B, the B! : )

I have both the Egyptomania doue & noir with an F and EF respectively.

I also have a Rouge et Noir spider with a B nib, and a R&N marble with a Med nib. From what I can tell, the nibs on the Egyptomania & R&N are basically the same. (Please correct me if I am wrong, though).

The heritage B nib is superb--very stubby and crisp. For me at least, writing with the B is a much more interesting and rewarding writing experience. It has excellent line variation, and the slight softness of the nib makes that stubbyness all the more interesting. If you don't like a stubby line, though, then this might not work for you. That said, the line is not so fat as to be impractical for a lot of different kinds of everyday writing.

Can I just say how excited I was to finally get my hands on the Egyptomania ink, pen pouch, and notebook?

It feels like my doue & noir finally have their own little nest or enclave!

Can anyone comment on the O2B nib on the Egyptomania - or other Heritage pens - please?  I've got OB and BB nibs on LE Montblancs and would really like to try the O2B as well but wonder if/how the slight softness of the nibs might affect the writing experience with a relatively broad nib.  I really enjoy the two I've got, FWIW.

Thank you  @Tom Kellie  Please do enjoy your lovely pen :)

I have to say,  this particular pen gives me an instant feel of being in the company of  a timeless classic;  it is,  without a doubt, a  very  elegant pen.

I appreciate the fact the MB art design team did not go over the top with this motif, they managed to strike a perfect artistic statement IMHO

If it were a bit cheaper, I would not hesitate a second in purchasing it.  But who knows, I still might do it,  I really like this simple  elegant design.

Please do keep  us posted with your  lovely writing samples.

OK.  I bit the bullet.  A B nib it is.  When I saw this limited edition, I knew it's the one that I would get.  I've never felt a pull like this one before for a long time.... perhaps when I bought my Conid Minimalistica or first MB146.  😄

It's about the same softness as other heritage nibs, some bounce but nothing that makes it difficult to use. If you're used to using oblique nibs then this just has a little bounce to it.

Regarding out of the box performance, your mileage may vary depending on where the nib swap happens. I have not had the best of luck with any of my nib swaps but I may just be very unlucky.

If you're willing to wait for the nib swap I'd say go for it, I really love using the pen and the heritage line suits my tastes much better than much of the modern editions being released this year.

Thanks for the response. I don’t have any other Heritage nibs:  my two LEs have 146-based nibs and I wondered how different a writing experience an Egyptomania nib might give. I’m certainly not averse to a bit of bounce (or smaller nibs) 😊

Both my pens had the nibs swapped by MB before the retailer sent them on to me and both were perfect out of the box. The experience each time was so good that I wouldn’t buy a Montblanc from anywhere else so hopefully (I’m crossing my fingers as I type) it’ll be third time lucky too, even if the projected wait is 2-3 weeks. The first pen took less time than estimated and the second took longer. I now have a strong feeling I’ll be putting in the order for an Egyptomania tomorrow.

I’m sorry you’ve had bad luck with nib swaps but you’ve really helped me to make a decision about this one, so thanks again.

Anyone else experience issues securing an Egyptomania?

I placed an order for a M nib resin Egyptomania with a well known European pen retailer in September 2020… coming up on 10 months soon!!!

I have followed up a couple of times, but they have advised that Montblanc has a significant COVID-induced backlog 🙁

~ @mfluder: I'm sorry that you've experienced such an exceptionally long delay.

In my case, the Fritz Schimpf stationery shopping Tübingen, Germany filled my order for a Montblanc Egyptomania Resin EF within one week.

That was in Autumn, 2020. The pen is now a treasured writer with high reliability.

I hope that you'll receive the pen you ordered with our further delays.
