Very comprehensive and attractively done review. Nice penmanship also.

 

Re the plastic & 78g vs 74; on my 74's the plastic is a tad thicker and polished to a much higher degree than in my 78g's. The plastic seems the closer too or same as that of 742/743/91/falcon-elabo's.

It's basically the very highly polished thicker version of material used in 78 g with metal tenon inside and gold nib...

 

Please note I was just mentioning about material... not the trims... and details...

detailing as evident from review is far more than 78 G...

My observations are:

1. no

2. feel is different, 78 is smoother in feel, 74 feels slightly , hmmmm, word maybe is stickier to fingers? Softer?

3. 78 has gold rings of an applied plastic coated to look gold. 74 has metal, perhaps actual gold plate of significance to wear well?

4. Shapes are different.

5. if you hold each pen in your hand you will notice the difference in the feel.

6. both pens are -to my hand- very ergonomically designed, very comfortable to hold.

Again, these are just my impressions, you may feel differently.

Well done review, very impressive. Yes, your skills and hand match up to that nib very nicely. It is difficult to explain how you feel when you use a pen that precise.

I treated myself to the dark green one but with a F nib. As expected, my writing with a Pilot F nib is quite different than your nib.

They are pretty pens, I think in an understated but elegant way.

I treated myself to the dark green one but with a F nib. As expected, my writing with a Pilot F nib is quite different than your nib.

They are pretty pens, I think in an understated but elegant way.

Wow. That is an exceptional hand written review and what a fantastic nib! I particularly love your demo of the Montblanc Golden Yellow.

 

However I find the pen just a little boring in its looks. What a pity we couldn't get Pilot to enter a joint venture with one of the Indian pen makers and get it in rose ripple ebonite or a superbly swirly acrylic :-)
