Montblanc Carrera Worth Buying?

I feel extremely scared of getting fake good, So i normally buy all my pens from the authorized retailer so it helps me that if one buys from there , There is just no tension !!

There are other trusted and reputable sources.

In my recent experience, the local market seems flooded with pirated copies selling for the real thing. It seems eBay is also a place in which extreme care must be exercised before committing to buy.

It turned out to be a fake. A 145-like body with a marking on the ring stating model no.149. Cheap etching on the tip. From now on -and considering the myriad fakes- I'll buy here and on Amazon exclusively.

If you buy new go for an authorized dealer so you will get the warranty coverage.

That's pretty bad to hear , My friend has just ordered a Fountain pen and he is to kind ,polite to know all this. Have to tell him !! Good to know , next time ebay !!

Well, I guess you need to read this: Just yesterday I received a Lamy Safari fountain pen that I bought from Amazon. It came in an envelope along with the Z24 converter. When I proceeded to open said envelope, I found to my dismay that none of the items were packaged in their respective retail boxes or blisters, they came inside plastic bags with no sign of the warranties or documentation. It was a bit of a letdown, but considering the price, I decided to forgot about this, until I flushed the pen and discovered blue ink flowing out of the nib!!

 

It was a shock to discover myself buying second hand from Amazon, so obviously I reported this to Customer service around noon today. A couple of hours later, I received a mail from them saying that another Safari pen and another converter were sent to me to replace the items I got first. No need to return anything, no need to pay for anything. They even added upgraded shipping!!

 

Don't know about you guys, but that sounds like extraordinary customer service to me!

That does not sound that bad as they have rebmiursed the whole thing and that's a pretty humble thing to do , Amazon you got my respect !!

I own both and I can write for days on end with my 149 but the ink finishes a LOT faster with the 146. I suppose I could go measure it and all but it seems like a lot of effort to prove a point. :/ The size of the pen itself is massively different btw..and the piston also moves up all the way equally for both pens. Doesn't need a lot of rationalizing to figure out that the 149 carries more ink IMHO..

Sizes can be misleading. I own a few of both models. The question is not what the exterior measurements are but rather the inside measurements and mechanism are. As I say, I may well be wrong yet again but TTBOMK the piston is exactly the same part for both pens.

That said, the prior listed sources, here, authorized dealers, MB itself, and Chatterly, along with Nibs and GoPens, won't steer anyone wrong.

Indeed. I went shopping yesterday for more Safaris and all of them got blue ink on the nib (one even had a stained feeder). Doing a search, turns out Lamy tests each pen with blue ink.
