Montblanc 4810 Meisterstuck

Hello! I´m new here because I've found in the middle of my mom's stuff a Montblanc Meisterstuck cartridge fountain pen and have been told it's quite expensive, and would love to know its real worth, if it´s worthy...

It has no case, it says 14K gold nib, around the ring Meisterstuck Germany.

Coul anyone tell me about this pen? Its year, how much it could be sold for? If it's worth keeping?

Looks like a real 144. Not a very expensive pen but a nice little writer. It's a model that is very often faked. Get yourself some international cartridges and use it; it is certainly worth far less than the personal value since it was your mom's.

They are nice pens, and it would help to know how old it is. Hard to tell from the photo but is it a monotone nib? Also, does it have a serial number on the clip band?

 

They are not the high end Motblancs,but still very nice pens, and certainly worth keeping if you think you'll use it.

 

If you don't use it (and apologies if I've misunderstood) then I'm sure your mother would not mind one iota if you sold it and bought something that you really want,

 

and you could put it on Ebay with a BIN for say $200 and keep your fingers crossed. Or you could keep on posting here for three months and sell it in the classified,and save the 13% ebay and paypal charges

 

Perhaps Admin could move this to the Montblanc Forum which would give it more exposure?

If the nib is a single colour, it is probably from the 80s. If the nib has 2 colours it is probably from the 90s. If you like using fountain pens you should give this one a try. I have one and they are very good writers. You could also get a converter for it if you wanted to use ink from a bottle.

It's a no. 144 "Classique." This model has been discontinued and replaced with the no. 145. It's a good, but not particularly valuable pen. When it was discontinued, it probably cost about four hundred dollars from the boutique. Today, I think you could get in the range of $200 for it. I suggest you keep it and use it.

I am not trying to make any assumptions here... if there is a "need" to sell it, then you got your answer... If there is no need, I can assure you that this could be a nice heirloom to pass onto your kids, and grand-kids.

 

These are quite robust little pens, wonderful writers and they can easily last for generations with minimal care.

Thank you so much for your views, they've made me look at it with different eyes!

The nib is one color only, that came as a surprise to me, did'nt know it made a difference, and no serial number anywhere. I've bought cartridges and love the writing, and certainly will keep it!
