@Misfit, that's very cool!

Thank you. It’s funny how things work out. I found out information from various sources. A lawsuit was one of the more enlightening sources. That put Allied Laboratories in KC.

I may be wrong, but I believe some, if not most, wooden pencils are made with 'composite' or 'engineered' wood made from sawdust.

That's depressing! When did the change occur, do you know? The only pencils I bought for myself for years were high end models, with these recent mid range pencils intended for my nieces.

I don't know when, but I suspect it may have been shortly after they began making composite or engineered wood from -- and recycling -- what was otherwise wood waste for use in the building industry.

One I found when looking for something else on my Dad’s desk. I’m using a Pentel  Twist-Erase with 0.9 lead. I knew he bought cheaper mechanical pencils, several to a package. I don’t remember this one. It’s dark blue. I figure he’d want me to use things like this. He died just over a year ago in August. I miss him so much. Using things he used keeps me connected.

That's lovely @Misfit. I use some of my Grandmother's stuff in the kitchen. I have a mechanical pencil from a relative we called Aunt Robert but I think she was more of a cousin. It's very nice to have and use objects that keep us connected.

Thank you for your words. By the way I ordered yet another Uni Style Fit multi pen as a gift from myself for my birthday  in a couple days.

I am using my Kuru Toga! I absolutely adore that little thing

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you'll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart."

For the last few days I've been using a Wahl-Eversharp silver plated No. 20SW. It's a ring top, missing the rings and all beat up. It was rescued from near destruction and has a special place as a survivor.1321559145_1922-1923Wahl-EversharpRingtop.thumb.jpg.10d0659d2f1b33b586884af31eb88706.jpg

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
