What Pencil Are You Using Today?

@AkitaMom -- I presume that the pencil just says "MIT" on the barrel? ;)  Or does it have the full name ("Massachusetts Institute of Technology") on it?

Of course now for some reason I'm thinking back to when I was looking at colleges and one of the places I looked into was Rhode Island School of Design.  Didn't see ANY of the campus -- just sat in a room with a bunch of other people while people talked about how wonderful the place was, and how you could get your non-art credit courses at Brown (and I remember thinking, "Yeah -- if they aren't filled up by BROWN students...."  And if you changed majors you basically had to go longer because there was so little overlap between curricula between majors, and my mom remembering one person who wanted to transfer there from somewhere in NYS and they would have accepted so few of the classes she'd already had, she'd have to start back as a SOPHOMORE and my mom said, she just got up and walked out.  Of course, SUNY Purchase was the complete opposite from the rigidity of RISD but I didn't like it any better (not the least of which being it was basically a "suitcase school" where everyone went to NYC for the weekend, which you could do if you had a CAR...).  And I was in a group of about 8 students they wanted to admit but had to wait for the state budget to go through (clearly they didn't have it in the budget to have a REAL building for painting classes -- THOSE were held in a giant quonset hut!  We only found about the reason for the admittance delay because my dad called the Dean of Students to find out why I hadn't heard whether I'd actually been accepted or not.... :headsmack:

Using my new Rotring 800 today - so a mechanical pencil. .5mm with 2B "lead" in it

I've been using the Kura Toga advance - with a .7mm lead for the last month or so.

It's very good for writing and drawing. I prefer thicker leads, because they're easier to read and don't break so quickly.

YIKES!  I just looked at your link and that PENCIL is nearly as much as I paid for my two most expensive pens (the Pelikan M405 Stresemann and the Pelikan M405 Blue Black) -- COMBINED....

I have the Vermeil and bought it used, but it was a big gulp.

Sold my other to fund it.

Old, YOL pencils can be picked up at a reasonable price from a lot of the antique stores in the uk. I found a nice one a few years ago in York. There where one or two when i was out, at a couple of antique shops this weekend closer to home

I have a lot of pencils, both vintage and modern.  For actual daily use, I think the Retro 51 Tornado pecils are unbeatable.  If you like or need a very fine line, the 1.15 mm lead is not that, but if you want a solid  pencil that is built like a tank, and with lead that will take pressure, it's your pencil.  I like a bit of frivolity, so my favourite among the lot is the "Space Cat" one.

I just looked that up, and it sure is cute.  Do you know if they made a FP version?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
