What ink(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

To go along with my new MB 146, MB Maroon in the old rounded shoe bottle and MB Victor Hugo sepia (light brown) in the small square bottle.  Both are eBay finds.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

I was pleased to see that monthblanc.com had Elvis Blue available, so I placed an order:

  • Elvis Blue
  • Petit Prince Burgundy
  • Manganese Orange

I also ordered a bottle of Irish Green from Fahrney's because MB didn't have it available.

Now my Montblanc basic colors collection is just about rounded out. (I already have Mystery Black, Midnight Blue, Royal Blue, Modena Red, and Toffee Brown.)

I could add a purple. Plus teal and/or turquoise-leaning blues.

Well I wasn't waiting for any, but after a little moment of weakness this afternoon, I seem to now be waiting for quite a few, including some I've been wanting to get for a while and finally managed to find in Europe rather than having to go through the pain of USPS shipping.

And despite having said I wouldn't I even caved in and ordered the Edelstein Golden Beryl because I needed to get one of the orders up past a shipping threshold.

Perfectly sound justification!

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Waiting on whole lotta ink

With this weather, covid or whatever, though,  I would be lucky to get the bottles  just empty and hopefully not broken.

Amazon could not even  deliver a book yesterday and the power was gone for couple of hours.

I haven't been buying ink because I have too much for me to ever use, but I sent away for three samples of shimmer ink, my first ever. Diamine Blue Pearl, Diamine Enchanted Ocean, and J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor. Plus a broad nib for the Lamy Vista that I was going to sell, to test them out in. I guess I thought I would try to see what all the excitement is about.

I can tell ya one thing I've learned. They can come out with new ones much faster'n you can write out the old ones!

You are not alone :)

I was  going "you need coolin' , baby I am not foolin'"  all of Friday.  We have a horrible heat wave where I live in the East bay area.

When it came to  describing my ink order from CultPens,  it was natural to go  "whole lotta ink":)

BTW, before I got into this FPN thing, I have  always been a coffee freak.   For coffee freaks,  a shop similar  to  CultPens in the Espresso machine space, is a place called "Whole Latte Love"

Small world indeed  :lticaptd:

I'll be interested to hear what you think. Back when I first discovered samples, I got some Emeraud de Chivor (it was around Christmas time) and a couple of other shimmer inks, and they just didn't do anything for me. I don't really need my writing to be highly decorative, I think.

As I will be, soon's i can get an order together.  I didn't even know Noodler (or anyone, for that matter) had such a hue until yesterday, when I saw it as a 'suggestion' based on another I was checking out, and tho I use very little Red & already have a couple, it's already awaiting me in my shopping cart.  I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to get something commemorative of one of my greatest personal heroes, remembering all those years ago when he stood down that tank column as I sat there riveted to my tv set, in complete awe of his bravery!

I made an order a few days ago with Pure Pens (UK), who have a very good selcetion & price, especially on Diamine inks...
So I ordered 2 handfuls of them (aka ten), including my first purchased sheening ink and a few accessories.

We'll see what customs & VAT mount up to when they arrive, since the UK are now officially out of the EU.

:(

Stay safe,
Daneaxe

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
