One bottle of "Sailor Manyo - Shirakashi".
As I put money aside for when "Milky Ocean" becomes available...Of course, no notification. 🙄

Or drinking too much Saki-it-to-me? 🤣

:lticaptd:

Unlike some people here, I don't do "matchy-matchy" and don't necessarily buy an ink to go with a specific pen, or a pen to go with a specific ink.  I buy pens, I buy inks (sometimes together, sometimes not) on the basis of what strikes my fancy and is affordable.

I ordered Stipula Ferrogalico Sepia to go with the Wild Homey Magnifica and was disappointed with both. :(

WOOHOO!!

Anyone know if Vanness Inks website is broken?
I have to reset my password every friggin time I go to their site for the past month.
Now today I go to order inks and I can't even login after resetting my password again.
Emailed them...no response.

DM, I was just on their website earlier this AM & all worked well. I have an account but not registered so don't use a PW there.

AFA them, i got a newsletter (last weekend?) saying they were busy packing up for the DC Pen Show, so they might be there?

Splendid, thank you! I hadn't considered that since I won't be able to attend.
I will just be patient and order after the weekend passes.

Ooh, nice. Let us know what you think. 👍

It looks really nice so far.

Only did a swab and first impressions are: great blue, bright, saturated and not too dark for such amounts lots of sheen.

Will test it tomorrow 🙂

I thought I wasn't waiting for anything, but some inks I'd almost forgotten have just shipped from the Netherlands, and I may have just accidentally bought a couple more from Cult Pens. How nice :)

So, don't keep us in suspense?  What's the ink?  Because US Series PA is pretty boring....  Not ugly, just boring....  Looks very similar to a lot of other grey leaning blue-blacks I have.  Guess it's at least good that it's not teal leaning....

Tar Heel. (From one who knows what the real thing looks like --  note the flag, thank you.)

To be fair, I haven't actually seen the ink,  but the patch they've used in the ads?

I decided to get a few more Endless Recorders, and needed to bump my total up a little for free shipping, so I decided to get a Waterman and a Lamy "variety pack" - one cartridge per color.  That will be enough to do Extra Fine Nib Ink Reviews. :)  Some of the colors are redundant, but still not a bad deal.  So, the inbound colors are:

Waterman

  • Audacious Red (already reviewed)
  • Mysterious Blue (already reviewed)
  • Inspired Blue (already reviewed)
  • Harmonious Green (already reviewed)
  • Intense Black
  • Serenity Blue
  • Tender Purple
  • Radiant Pink

Lamy

  • Blue/Black (already reviewed)
  • Black
  • Blue
  • Red
  • Green
  • Turquoise
  • Violet

A sample of 4001 Pink, thanks to N1003U (he's getting a sample of vintage Skrip Peacock in return).

Indeed, here are two images of the ink: a comparison with other blues with sheen and a close up of the pennonia.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
