My sales texted me the picture for the 1924. It is red, look like the Olympic 146 red and no MOP for the Montblanc star. At 5100 I expect better.

From one of the photo I have, for me the Montblanc star is MOP. Will see when it will be released or more information will be published.

sorry, are you saying that this $5k model is exactly the same as the regular 1924 resin 149 but with a new filling mechanism? And for that they're charging $5k? PT Barnum's quote comes to mind....

I don't understand the lack of photos... it's being talked about like a secret military project.

Maybe I'm missing something which is entirely possible since my interests are in their vintage pens.....

But it seems sort of odd (to me) that they are accepting pre-orders on a very limited edition pen for which there are no photos or information, unless you have an inside connection.

What is their game plan here?  Are they trying to assure that all their most connected and high roller (to mean biggest spender) customers are able to acquire one before they are gone?

Sounds very elitist, to say the least.

But, again, maybe I'm missing something.

If someone with some photos would be willing to share them with me via PM I'd be most grateful..........

I've held the cap and it is orange; not the same color as the x Olympia Paris 1924.

Correct, far as I know.... kind of crazy price for what you get. I told the sales I need to see it when it comes in.

Sent my 149 The Origin Collection for nib exchange, they told me there is a lot of wait, someone said 3 months.. if anyone gets his 100th Anniversary back from nib exchange, let us know, would appreciate it.

I waited around 2 month. Usually 6 to 8 weeks.

Does the cap have MOP Montblanc star ?

It was just the cap sleeve; no cap top so I don't know.

Wait and see now .. hopefully not 9 months, you can create a full human in that time 😇

@digitorum Yes, let’s hope that The Origin 149 is not one of the special editions affected by the backlog and that your and your friend’s pens arrive within the six to eight week period that @kaisede reports.  Indeed, yes, the human gestation period is far too long to wait for a nib exchange!

I send mine in for nib exchange to XF. It writes very nice.

Might you be persuaded to post a writing sample? I am considering the XF nib, you see 😇

Really ? wow wasn't expecting that, I asked for a EF nib on my 149 - 100 Years Anniversary , my friend came later also to get one EF and a F

I am sure they went to Germany, I guess it should be Hamburg, and I guess the 100 Years Anniversary specific nibs might be available only there

Wait and see now .. hopefully not 9 months, you can create a full human in that time 😇

Oh, that would be nice !
You mean you had it done recently ? and for an 100th Anniversary edition pen ? Was it done in US or Europe ?

I just picked it up Tuesday

Traveller? Why is this a traveller model? Anyone have details of this new filling mechanism that would make it a traveller version? The previous traveller is one that would accept cartridges. This is not one of those.

I was told that it is somewhat similar to the Pelikan Level system. Also you can look up the patents for it searching recent Montblanc patents.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
