I have yet to open either of them. I wonder if the Klimt corresponds favorably to the Tolstoy.

I have to admit I never had the Tolstoy ink in my desk drawer. Based on reviews in the German network (they have more samples there), both inks seem to be quite similar.
The difference seems to be Klimt‘s green-black nuance whereas Tolstoy has minimal red components.

Thank you — I had seen your post earlier about the 100 Year LE Blue and the Coral. Even though I have purchased this blue, plus the Klimt (your review I had not seen until now), I have yet to open either of them. I wonder if the Klimt corresponds favorably to the Tolstoy.

Your review of the Coral tempted me to buy it, but I resisted!

Where did you find them? I haven't been able to find the new inks anywhere!

The Klimt seems to be sold out just about everywhere and ths website sold out within eight hours. Some asshat has bought a load of it to flip. Word is MB are releasing more later this year to try and prevent this problem.

I see, thank you! That's unfortunate! I'll keep an eye out for the later release.

The ink seems to be available at multiple locations now- lots of boutiques have received them in India. Available at Frankfurt airport too.

The 100y Origin Collection inks and the Klimt were all available at the Frankfurt boutique in the Goethe Street as I was there this week.

NB: The boutiques operate separately from the online shop, which is a different retail channel by Yoox Net a Porter on behalf of MB and they distribute via UPS from their site near Bologna (Italy).

Thank you, I appreciate your perspective.

Regarding the superiority of enamel coatings it is true (although I assume that lacquer coatings have better aesthetics) however I am unaware of their use in Montblanc fountain pens.  I was wondering if you knew of any examples where they have been used?

here is a picture of montblanc “black and gold “ with black lacquer. This was originally bought from a boutique in 2007 . Along with caran d ache black lacquer and Chinese lacquer pens.

I am not surprised to see, at the money, people not being interested in the Origin Collection, but I am surprised at people praising the 75th and 90th over it. To me those are a trim ring (with a diamond, the biggest and lamest of gimmicks) and a different tone of gold. To me, these Origin Collection pens are much more special than those, they just have identifiable flaws and cheap packaging, which they shouldn't have at these prices.

In 90 yr anniversary editions I really liked the purple 145 solitaire, too bad it was not made in the 146 size as well.

Wish they had done all colors in all sizes.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful lacquered pens.  They are all really, very nice and I hope you are enjoying them thoroughly for many more years.

I think I am done with MB fountain pens. Quality has seemed to gone down the drain. I bought the 100th anniversary 149 only because I have the 90th anniversary edition and I wanted the 100th anniversary edition too.  I do understand some of the design cues that have been taken and displayed on this version but to be honest, it is a huge disappointment.  MB doesn't even have proper quality control in that where the marbling effect of the 149 I received looked as though the "Montblanc" word on the cap had been smudged when looking directly at the text.  This, I thought, would have been picked up by quality control as it is simply unacceptable.  Various MB sales people have told me otherwise.  "It's a design feature of the pen".  Whether it is or isn't it is still a massive disappointment.  The ball clip is not even springy enough to easily slide into a shirt pocket.

The second one ordered was exactly what I wanted in the first place. The white marbling on the cap was around the text. I did not even ink it (perhaps I should have) as it went straight over for a nib exchange.  Will have to wait now, as I have been informed that it can take up to four months.

I honestly think that the 100th anniversary edition should have had the colours reversed i.e. the barrel and cap is made of pure white "precious" resin and the MB star in black, which would be a first in MB's history if I am not mistaken but would also make it a highly unique piece and fitting way to celebrate 100 years of Meisterstuck.

A truely wonderful idea, now if only Montblanc would listen...

Hello, I hope everyone is enjoying their new writing instruments.

I guess the day is here … I have been trying to get a second 149 Origin (so I can add a modern EF nib to my collection) and my Montblanc Boutique were just notified that MB won’t be shipping anymore to NA.  It appears that there will be no more production and they are canceling any open orders.  Too bad.

If someone knows where there may be one available please let me know.  I know the odds of finding one will be low.  Thanks.

The more I see statements like this one, the more I like my Dumas, Dickens, Wilde, Bernstein, Bach....

Still searching for a 149 Origins…been looking since release but haven’t been able to land one at all. Hoping they’re still coming out with more.

It's a little bit of topic, I know, but there are some images on Instagram about 4 new fragrances to celebrate the origin collection called "Montblanc Collection". No more news on the internet.

Yes there are, I received free samples last week at the MB store of Brussel but not yet tested, I'm still with the Explorer and Explorer Blue.
