I actually like it.

It reminds me of the vintage ones, and I think it is quite appropriate to celebrate the 100 years.

A big ditto, Lam1. The engraving brings forward the aesthetics of the year which is being celebrated.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the engraving on the cap?

It doesn't bother me at all. I actually like it. The engraving on the red olympic legrand edition does bother me a lot. It's to clean.

Agree 100%.

For me, the engraving more than anything else is a salute to the origin(s) of the Meisterstück

Once it was reported that it was a genuine engraving, and not just a surface marking which would quickly disappear with any use, I find it very appealing.

There have been cases where the cap engravings of the limited edition 149s were, in my opinion, a bit overdone. I am thinking in particular of the “Journey on the Orient Express”, where the bold white pattern in a rectangle killed, for my taste, an otherwise very interesting blue 149. The caps of the 149 “Teatro alla Scala” and the 149 “Elbphilharmonie” were also quite crowded, but the better choice of engraved pattern saved the day.

The Origin logo is perhaps a bit childish in its character, but it is true to the original Meisterstück logo, which was conceived that way. Personally, I appreciate the fact that Montblanc did not “invent” a new logo for The Origin, but used the most original one from its historical archives.

I don't think any of the logos will wear away with time. The Orient logo is definitely risky. I'm surprised it got approved! The Origin logo since it's authentic, then I feel it's appropriate on the Origin.

Is everything for the 100th Anniversary now announced?

From a friend who was told … "In October we will release another pen which is limited edition to 1924, which will be something we've never done before!  As soon as I get pictures and videos I will share it with you".

But if it's full of metal body parts, no thanks. I feel that Montblanc is staying more and more into jewelry rather than a useful writing tool company. This will undoubtedly be another money grab and so they will load the heck out of the pen with all sorts of metal and or jewels and jack up the price. After all, 100 anniversaries don't come along but once. At the rate they're going, they won't see its 125th, let alone 200th.

It will be a 149 with never seen color for this model, a new ink refill system in a nice box with lot of accessories. Can't wait for it!

...but it's a sort of traditional Montblanc Meisterstück color. The ink fill system can be looked up searching their recent patents. It is similar to something another German brand offered a few years ago 😉

All looks very interesting but pricing will be €€€€; around 5000 € I heard.

Can confirm with @kaisede that US retail will be $5,100. My sales contact allowed me to read about and look at the new set with the material they were provided online while I was in-store over the weekend. Interesting take on a filling mechanism that I have trouble wrapping my head around with its intended purpose, will wait to see how it works later in October. Quite frankly for the price, not my cup of tea. Was at least hoping for a mother of pearl star for the "Limited Edition" version of the resin 100th Anniversary 149 likened to the 75th Anniversary LE 1924 models, but alas, it is not so as of now.

Saw a vid of the refill system and it seems quite efficient and impressive. And clean up seems quicker than with current piston system that could take long time depending of the ink. But need to practice in real to know exactly if it will be as in the demo or not.

And from what I saw on the photos, it seems the MB flocon will be in mother-in-pearl.

Is there a name for the model?

Don't know exactly if it is the official name or not, Meisterstück Traveler 149 edition LE 1924. It is not listed on the online store of MB and will maybe be never, as it seems it will only sell in a limited number of MB official stores, at the beginning at least and pre-order has started on Monday this week.

Sent my 149 The Origin Collection for nib exchange, they told me there is a lot of wait, someone said 3 months.. if anyone gets his 100th Anniversary back from nib exchange, let us know, would appreciate it.

@digitorum Out of curiosity, which size of nib did you request?

If you receive your pen within three months, you can count yourself lucky, as I was told by a boutique sales associate that the waiting period for nib exchanges can stretch to nine months, such is the service backlog in Hamburg for some special and limited edition models.  (MyJewelryRepair does perform nib exchanges in the US on some regular edition and special edition pens; in those cases the waiting period is shorter.)

Were you told where the nib exchange would be carried out?

There are less than a thousand Montblanc boutiques. Idk how many Authorized Retailers … would they be able to sell the Meisterstück Traveler 149 edition LE 1924? If not, then each boutique gets about 2 to sell? Or perhaps some boutiques, like NYC or London would get more inventory??

I haven't the details that are probably confidential and not shared by Montblanc. But I asked to my authorized reseller to ask to his Montblanc salesman if he could order it or not (due to the policy from 2022 where authorized reseller can't sell anymore limited edition) and he answered that only Montblanc official stores will be able to sell them and for Belgium the store will not have it for sale, at least at the beginning. So I suppose Montblanc will reserve it to the flag ship stores at the beginning and depending how they sell it, other stores will be able to sell it later.

Montblanc staff need to follow a training for the new ink refill system so maybe it is the reason they limit it to few stores to limit the number of people to train.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
