My two favorite browns as well!!
Awesome!

BONUS: "Caffe Crema" retains it's shading when used with flex pens also!
Very versatile ink!

I actually just ordered a sample of Caffe Crema from Goulet! Then today I saw their new “Pencast” and they said that they are having QC issues with the vials leaking! I hope it doesn’t leak in the mail!!!

Oh yikes!! I hope yours don't leak! :o
I ordered 4 sample vials from vanness the other day.
No one seems to have full bottles in stock for some reason.
I think I'll just re-order from Ebay next time....

It's been suggested, but I'll second it. Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Brown is a favorite of mine, and it doesn't have any weird over/under tones.

A similar brown is Seitz-Kreuznach Chestnut Brown,  though it's a bit lighter.

Thank you! I’ll be sure to check it out.

Diamine Raw Sienna may be too light in a very fine or dry nib but in a wet nib it is a quite warm but not so reddish (unlike Saddle Brown) brown.

Color is VERY subjective. As a design student, I realize a long time ago that for me, color within its context was more important for me than absolute color. While I know of people like my sister who has an absolute color in her mind and until she finds it she does not rest.  The other thing I realize was that what might look attractive as a representation of rich brown might no longer be the case when you look at it 2 years from now. I used to dislike orange browns, which are typical of Pelikan Brilliant Brown and Iroshizuku Tsukushi, and thought that I would prefer a darker brown more akin to bitter chocolate. These days I have gradually shifted towards the orange browns because I find it's a great bridge between brick reds and chocolate browns. So browns for me these days are Pelikan Brilliant Brown and Iroshizuku Tsukushi. But those aren't the colors you're asking about.

Also when I started collecting pens, which was during the early 2010s, inks were fairly limited. If you wanted more unorthodox colors, you could go with Noodler's. At that time too Edelstein and Iroshizuku was just coming on. Today the choice of colors is so bewildering and vast that it no longer is fun to try and chase specific colors. It's so overwhelming that I stick with colors or brands that I like.

A happy brown ink, hm, I would look at chocolate, coffee or caramel.

Hello!

Unfortunately I can’t seem to find an ink that makes me completely happy. I would like a warm medium-dark brown ink, but that doesn’t have an olive-y look and has good shading. Noodler’s Walnut has a purplish undertone, Jacques Herbin Terre D’Ombre is too olive-y and on Apica paper it is so dark. Herbin Lie de Thé is a little too light, and Diamine Chocolate Brown is just a little bit too dark. I know this is very specific, but do any of you have recommendations? I am not sure if this is the place to put this post, if not please say so. Thank you so much for your help!

Try the brown thread listed in the signature line below.  I also just tried Monteverde Chocolate Pudding and it is quite nice.  You also might like Diamine Saddle brown.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

My two favorites are Pelikan Brilliant Brown and Robert Oster Cafe Crema, both are excellent inks.

I’d also recommend Pelikan Brilliant Brown if you want a warm, nutty brown that isn’t expensive.

I'm excited for my "Penbbs - Guilin" to come in this week.
I'm thinking that it is going to kick "Caffe Crema" from the #1 spot...it'll be a tough battle, but I have a good feeling....

De Atramentis Document Brown could be a possibility, especially as you could try 'adjusting' it by mixing other de Atramentis Document colours with it.

I was completely right.
This ink is heavenly! Caffe crema is now the #2 brown ink in my house.
