Considering I can't seem to find a Magna, this sounds like a great option!  The Vacuumatic is somewhat similar to (though I understand more complicated) than the Onoto plunger mechanism, right?

They are around. Just have to keep an eye out for them. The black pen would be the more affordable pen.

So long as you have the Vac Wrench and the Diaphragm, I would say the Vacumatic is easier to repair. There are also more parts available.

An Eversharp Coronet or a Parker Coronet?

The Parker 45 variety.

Thank you. I thought it might be a Parker 51 Coronet.

Not a particularly good pen. The Parker 49 and 50 were better.

For the most part, I'd agree with Carguy.  But if I have to do research and take a lot of notes?  It's gonna be the 51 Vac with the nicely tuned EF nib....

Your intention encourages me to buy another P51 shortly, too :)

They haven’t joined my collection quite yet but are on the way.  One Parker 51 in black/silver and a couple of vintage slim folds.   They were cheap and I’m down with back and neck issues, so it’s a little retail (eBay) therapy.

That's an attractive looking pen.  Do you happen to know if it comes as an FP model as well?  (Yeah, like I really need more pens... :headsmack:)

I only buy locally and I've never seen this finish here. Also has an interesting lined, chrome-plated section ring. No nib but I have plenty.

(Will arrive in a few days - these are the seller's photos.)
