w00t!

While I dream of my future king size, I have a question: Has anyone experienced any problems with CAISO before? It’s obviously a brilliant design, but it seems like a klutz (read: me) could figure out a way to break something. In other words, would a non-CAISO pen be more durable/idiot-proof?

@es9  you sure are disciplined to save all those holidays for a Conid.  I hope you get the one you’ve been hoping for when the web shop opens up again.

Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated!

I've had a meeting with Werner today and he showed me his massive Conid parts stock.

Werner assured me again that they will restart Conid within a few months.

I'll surely keep you posted!

Kind regards,

Francis

@Yeetus:
Are you referring to the acrylic ink feeds underneath the nib?

These will probably become available again, but only on the Kingsize Bulkfiller

Great news.
Will keep saving up for the day this happens.

Excellent, plenty of time to set a ridiculously sized order amount away.  🤣

Ensuring a fluent back and forth ink transfer between the front  and main ink chambers all pens will be equipped with a new Teflon coated "surface tension breaker needle", now mounted in the top top of the piston rod.

Hello Francis, will there be a video demonstrating this new surface tension breaker in action? If I remember correctly, I shared a couple of patents and research articles with Jonas on the issue several years ago.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
