Hello all, 

Sorry for necro-ing this topic, but I have a particular question regarding the cap on a Montblanc Heritage Rouge et Noir Baby (the pocket pen version theat does not have a clip), more speciffically, how to dissasemble the cap.

This is the pen I am talking about

I am curious if the metalic looking ring holding the Montblanc star on top of the cap can be unscrewed and replaced with clip. Ideally if you can point me to an article or video where the dissasembly is shown.

As you can see in the video, Pen and Gadget uses a ring as a roll stop, and that gave me the idea to try to make a custom clip for this pen.

There are some images in this topic, on page 11, (click here) with the parts of the big Rouge et Noir Heritage pens, but they are blurry. I can see that the clip on those is removable and the caps themselves are dissasembled, but I cannot see how to actually do that.

Specifically, I am interested in the removal of the piston.

 

Apparently, the piston in this pen is a captive converter and not a "real" piston.  Can anyone confirm this to be correct?

Yes , it is a captive converter. If you shake the pen you will hear an iron ball that sounds.

Would this satisfy your curiousity? It's from the 1912 edition, from 2015, but I can't imagine it's too terribly different from this release.

I recently got a 1912 Heritage after wanting one for literally a decade; since it was released. Couldn't push myself into paying the ~900€ price at the time, hoping it will come down in price with time. Little did I know these pens would explode in price. A few years later I searched for some unsold stock somewhere, back home in Slovenia, in Japan, China, everywhere I went....obviously no stock anywhere.

 

I got very lucky; just a week or so ago, somebody wanted to sell theirs; no box, no papers, heavily used, a chip on the cap yes, but the price? 700€, and within European Union too, so no import duties. I rushed to buy it and am completely in love. Even though this pen has seen some heavy use, after a decade every single movement in the pen is buttery smooth, it really FEELS premium and superbly made. 

 

I will contact Montblanc if they can perhaps refurbish the pen to bring into pristine condition, and I will start my hunt for box and papers now, so I have the complete package.

Aaaand it's back, just one month, including shipping from me to Fritz Schimpf, from Fritz Schimpf to Montblanc, then back again to Fritz Schimpf and again back to me. So excluding shipping times probably like 1 week total. They polished the pen, swapped the cap or repaired it, I can't even tell, because the pen looks almost like brand new.

 

Fritz Schimpf is my favorite merchant for pens and inks (I have no affiliation to them), but this was truly incredible. They basically did this pro bono for me, as I only paid for the shipping and the service charge, but I am their regular customer, or at least that's how I like to think of myself.

 

Needless to say, I'm super happy. Couldn't be happier, in fact.
