I just got an email from Goulet that the stub nibs are available. I have already placed my order in rhodium.

Are these listed on the website yet? I did not see it as an option in the pull down menu for the choice of nibs when looking at the VP pens. Or will they just sell the nib unit separately? it would also be great to see comparative writing samples and reviews from the first few owners.

They're only available on three models at Goulet (and this may be the case in general) (Matte Black, Black Carbonesque and Black with Rhodium Trim), but you can order the nib units separately in all three finishes. The nib is listed as a "1.0mm Italic".

Current Daily Carry: Pilot Custom 743 with 14k Posting nib (Sailor Kiwa-Guro), Sailor 1911L Realo Champagne with 21k Extra Fine nib (Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu). Platinum Century 3776 Bourgogne (Diamine Syrah), Nakaya Portable Writer Midori with 14k Extra Extra Fine nib (Lamy Peridot), Pilot Vanishing Point Stealth Black with Extra Fine nib unit (Pilot Blue Black), a dozen Nockco DotDash index cards of various sizes and a Traveler's Notebook.

No stub in gold as of now, just the black and rhodium. :crybaby:

I just got this exact same nib and it is unbelievable. 'Such a great nib, super-smooth and very easy to write with and still get nice line variation. This is my normal handwriting using this nib, not doing anything special.

This is simply beautiful! And finally someone else here that appears to write in a sensible (and efficient size).

It isn't often I find a nib/pen demonstration that reflects close to my handwriting- but this is much closer than anything else I have seen posted about VP stub grinds!

Thanks!

I have the stub in black, quite a disappointment, quite scratchy, and not nearly enough line distinction compared to the Plumix, The VP stub side to side line is quite fat, and the up and down line is smaller than that of the Plumix, rendering writing that more closely resembles a fat medium than a stub.

The Plumix is is fact relatively smooth by comparison with the VP stub, I just wanted smaller stub type writing.

Since most people here appear to prefer larger stub/italic writing, I guess I will give up the search for the fine/extra fine stub, probably doesn't exist anyway.

I had Linda Kennedy grind what she calls a DailyItalic. She'll make them very fine, if you like. Her nibs are wonderful. I have a 0.5mm.

Hmm, that sounds attractive, but how much did she charge? I never try the custom grinds because they usually charge more than what the whole pen is worth.

That looks very very interesting - I may have to pick one up. I had stubs made for my Namiki Stealth and I love it.

Hmm... Well... Not sure the units will work in my old skool Namiki Stealth.

If it is the faceted one, it'll work fine...

Thanks - it sure is... Man this is a difficult pen to photo!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
