Is The Resin With Gold Trim (Similar To Mb 149) Sailor King Of Pen Really Discontinued?

I have heard very conflicting things about this. Some say that the resin with gold trim KOP was the old version, and that this was updated to the ebonite trim less model after Montblanc threatened Sailor with legal action. However, on Sailor's website the resin with gold trim KOP is still listed, and I saw on one particular website a Sailor ebonite with gold trim KOP which was listed as discontinued, with a separate resin version still being displayed.

I believe (but I am not 100% sure) that the discontinued model is the early ebonite model with metal bands. The plastic models (KOP Profit ST) seems to be available widely.

isnt that the first KoP release which was supposed to be a limited ed like the KoP realo?

To know if a model is still in production, you need its serial number (for instance, 11-6001). Then consult the online official catalogue at http://www.sailor.co.jp/book_2015-2016/index.html#page=37

I'm not sure what the legal action would be. While it looks similar to a 149, it is enough different not to infringe and copyright or trademark.
