Looking For 3,5"x5,5" (9X14 Cm) Blank Notebook

Hi!

I'm looking for options to put in my Midori-style leather cover. It's Moleskine/Field Notes-sized, but I would like better paper to suit fountain pens. Preferably also thicker than Rhodia - I like to draw.

I live in Norway, so the physical stores don't cover my needs. It would have to be an online shop with worldwide shipping.

I have a Banditapple Carnet on its way, I just would like more options.

Thank you.

How about finding the drawing paper you like. Cut it to two page width and then staple and fold it in the middle. I've done that in the travelers notebook size and it works quite well.

The Banditapple should be quite good and likely your best option. Certain Fieldnotes are better with FP ink. America the Beautiful and Shelterwood have the nicer paper. If you have access to a Muji store or online, their Passport sized notebook (red or blue) will fit. I would test with your FP before ordering a large batch.

I carry a Fieldnote sized NB with me all the time and have taken to carrying an inexpensive vintage Bullet Pencil. -Small, fits in any pocket, doesn't leak, won't stab you like a ballpoint or regular pencil. Don't know if you can find them in Norway. They were used for advertisement here in '50s-'70s. A Field-notebook and bullet pencil used by lots of farmers, working people. Simple and effective. Another option that may work for you in certain situations.

Thank you for your feedback. I have made som inserts with watercolour paper, so I will probably try to make my own. I've got some Crown mill paper, and I've got a paper giljotin at work, so should be ok.

I'm just lazy, and like to order things online:)

Will look into America the Beautifil and Shelterwood!

The took away our Muji store, but I have the passport size zip pocket and I would like to keep it at FN/Moleskine size i think. Bullet pencils look cool, but they are not common over here. I also never use a pencil anymore, but maybe I'll look for them when I visit California in a month. If you have any suggestions for stores to visit to get good paper and pretty pens, feel free to comment!

Thank you!

There's a blank Rhodia Webnotebook - 3.5 x 5.5, sold by Goulet...

Yellow Paper House on etsy. Mine in today and ordered from East Coast USA on Friday. Review done recently , here on FPN.

Usual Disclaimers, no affiliation just a satisfied customer. Some one beat me to Steve Curnow all ready. Like his work too. He does Tomoe River paper inserts , too. Jim

I know this thread is a little old, but I'm always looking for good options in this size. I started with Field Notes and really like them except for the paper quality for fountain pen use, but I do love the size. I tried the Banditapple and while they do take fountain pen ink well, I didn't care for the texture of the paper, it is far from a smooth paper.

I did find the Clairefontaine Life.Unplugged books and they come in this size and have fantastic paper, obviously. So smooth and fountain pen friendly and thick enough that you can easily use both sides of the paper without issue. Only downside is they are much thicker because they have twice as many sheets and the paper is thicker. But these are the best I've found so far.

Anybody know of anything with similar paper in this size that comes in a Field Notes length 48-pages?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
