Autumn Oak - Diamine

I have Diamine Autumn Oak and it is a beautiful ink. It shades really well with my Pilot Metro medium nib and even in a fine nib. I really enjoy writing with this ink.

 

Thank you for the great review. Until this, I didn't know that some Diamine inks behave unpleasantly. Some of the reviews I read beforehand described Diamine inks as a whole behave excellently.

Well - it's a mystery for me I'm not planning to bash Diamina as a brand but it's one of my least favourite ink makers. I love some of their colors, but quite a few (Kelly Freen, Jade, Ancient Copper) behave badly in pens (nib crud, nib creep) or cause hard starts (Oxblood, Red Dragon). All in all I use Diamine inks but I would never call them flawless

A greater tendency to this or that bad behavior is due to ink properties, I'm sure, but I have noticed that when starting problems in particular occur, there's quite often something that can be improved about the pen that makes it less of an issue, if not makes it go away entirely. Knowing this may be of little practical use to most people, but at least it might lessen the mystery of why different people can have diametrically different experiences and opinions about the performance of a given ink.

Mike, I agree with you. I think it's easier to "blame the ink" in part because the ink is the easiest and cheapest thing to change.
