And now for something closer to home --an American icon, witnessed by the triple great-grandfather of Inky:

I fear his signature on the Declaration was done in Blue Ghost invisible ink, so no one realizes he was a signer. :)

I think this is perhaps one of my favorite one yet! Especially given that the original is one of my most favorite paintings on the planet. I got to see it (and one of my OTHER favorite paintings, the Albrecht Dürer self portrait where he's sitting in the window seal looking all dandified), when I was on a trip to Spain in the summer of 1978 (a 1-credit drawing and painting course run by one of my painting professors) and got to see both paintings in the Prado in Madrid.

Oh, yes, Ruth! This is one of the great paintings of all time. If you remember all the different layers of reality and the opening of the wall between the viewer and the characters in the painting, it's mind-blowing! And the Prado is a place that all people should visit at least once in their life. Also in the Prado is Hieronymous Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights." I watched an enormous crowd discussing it and the experience was one of my most memorable of that trip to Spain. Glad you enjoyed this!

I can see little miss Goldilocks getting ready to flounce off somewhere more interesting than standing for a portrait, while the artist is clearly thinking that he didn't charge nearly enough this time. The dog is bored.

Actually it's more complicated than that. Velasquez, the artist, is really saying "Look at ME! I'm hanging out with the Royal Family! I'm so important that I can get away with painting myself into what's SUPPOSED to be a portrait of the Infanta and her attendants! Oh, yeah, and the King and Queen are standing in the doorway...." Okay, I'm paraphrasing Sister Wendy a bit here. ;)

Sounds like Sister Wendy! Imagine the King and Queens faces, when they saw the finished painting, and standing in front of it, they saw themselves reflected in a mirror in the background of the painting!

Have you ever heard of the legend that when the King Philip IV saw the painting, he picked up one of Velázquez's brushes, dipped it in red paint, and painted the Cross of the Order of Saint James (Santiago) on the painter's chest, indicating that he had been knighted. Not sure if it's true, but it's a fun story...

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
