Montblanc Leonardo - Red Chalk

Bigeddie

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the nice review bigeddie. Hmm..I remember what pink chalk looked like on the blackboard while in school and that was what I was expecting. The fact that this is quite like a collodi is a bit disappointing as I found the collodi too light orange and it wasn't much good for me for any sort of daily use. But thanks for that anyway. Australia takes forever to receive new MB stuff!

Thank you for the review. I must say I am a bit disappointed it is not a slightly darker chalky brown-red with a bit more red tones. Seems weird that they would make two inks which are so similar (Carlo Collodi). But you have made up my mind towards getting a bottle finally of the Hitchcock red. Though I love Davinci, need to think about that ink.

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng

I've got my bottle now, and I love the ink. It's a terra-cotta red, amd flows beautifully in a Haolilai Goldenpen. Even looks cool, with the butterscotch-swirl barrel. I used the fill and cleaned the pen, but I think this will prove to be one of those indivisible pen/ink combos.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

It took a while but I have the ink. The store from which I originally ordered it did not come through. None of the other MB dealers contacted in my area had it (or had heard of it), the MB main office in Canada said they had no more (where had it gone if no one had it?) and finally, I was able to reserve it and buy it over the holidays from the MB store in Short HIlls, NJ!

I am so glad I did! I love the colour and the flow is good. It is exactly as I imagined an ink called Leonardo Red Chalk would be. There is in it, to my eye, a drop of pink that I have seen in actual red chalk.

Sample - the pink note I see in reality is not as evident through the various technological steps but, an idea...

He he... I bought the last two bottles in the Toronto Boutique.. :P .. No hording here, I sent one to my sweetheart in the US.. ;)

I do like the color.. but, for me at least, it needed more "punch" in the red spectrum. I solved that with a drop of Hitchcock.. :puddle:

A recent review not yet loaded here showed it as a brown-orange shading monster. :puddle:

Too bad.

This is just a red ink...and red inks are not good for my piston windows.

This review saved me buying this.

This is how it looks for me on various papers out of my Homo Sapiens EF, top is light pressure, bottom is pressing it a little bit.

I just picked up a bottle and find it an interesting ink. Freshly loaded in the pen (before it starts to evaporate and darken) it is quite reminiscent of the rust-colored Galileo Manuscript Brown that Noodler's made for FPN a few years ago.

Just got a couple bottles of this stuff and threw it in my Octavian. Awesome ink! Very interesting color and quite well behaved. The shading is amazing.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
