As I've written before, I am totally besotted with this paper. :wub: I'm in the middle of my first book, have two more still in their wrapping paper and because I'm a hoarder ;) will no doubt be ordering more soon. I say use these for "morning pages" noon pages and night pages. This paper is wonderful. A big thanks to Jay for great service too. :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Mine arrived tonight! I've used the thank you note for practice before diving into the journal. I feel like this sort of notebook needs to have a dedication ceremony...

Hey Jay, First the journals are great. I just got mine, thank you. An item I found humorous was that even though you ship from CT, and I live in Stamford, my books went through Mass and NJ to get to me. Very odd I would say.

 

For anyone who wants to try a bound Tomoe River Paper book, I would suggest going to Jay. They are very good good hard covers in what appears to be a very sturdy Binding to me from a user point of view. The price is very reasonable for a hard bound. While it is a little more then most fountain pen friendly notebooks. Please be aware you are paying for binding of Tomoe River Paper and ordering from a Japanese source for bound paper of this quality will easily cost you $80+. I have been looking for a long while now since hearing of this paper

But glad I found it now.....

 

Have read through all the positive comments and definitely interested in trying this paper...

 

Bit surprised that in reading through 5 pages of posts, not one person (unless I missed it somehow...) mentioned a version with lined paper....am I the only one that likes having lined (preferably, narrow ruled...great for taking notes during the workday....) pages?

 

Is it possible to get a lined page journal?

Yes, you can get 7mm lined journals from Nanami Paper here http://www.nanamipaper.com/products/seven-seas-tomoe-river-a5-journal-7mm-lines.html

 

I ordered one recently and it's great. I ordered the plastic cover (see accessories) to go with it as this isn't a hardcover journal. It is very well made though.

 

I'm not sure these are really suitable for work notes. They're too special for that! :-)

 

I'm in UK and my order arrived in 4 days. Being in CONUS you will have the benefit of much cheaper shipping of course.

Mine (two books, cream) arrived yesterday, and I can't express how pleased I am with them. Everything I've written with in them has felt positively dreamy: smooth and expressive; and I love the way the paper takes ink. The books themselves are beautifully crafted. Thank you so much, Jay; I'm afraid you've created another addict.

I'm looking forward to trying out this magical paper as well however I find that I always end up reaching for my lined notebooks before my blank ones. It's a comfort thing.

 

I write very small and almost exclusively use EF nibs but for some reason the idea of 5 mm lines scare me. I'm used to the 7 mm line spacing in the Rhodia webnotebooks. I'd get too claustrophobic with all my writing crushed together. The words need to breathe.

I write mostly with IB and OBB nibs and while 5 mm lines don't scare me they do make the pens uncomfortable.

I like my sentences to choke each other. The strongest survive.

I prefer 5mm, but WHATEVER, nay-sayers.

I can make my IB & OBB fit anywhere (years of practice).

 

I can as well but I figure - when the thoughts are flowing the ink should too.

This looks awesome! I've yet to try Tomoe, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. I sincerely doubt that all those reviews could be wrong, yeah?

 

I'm not all that fond of tinier, compact notebooks, though. Any chance you could try making a 320-page journal in A3 size? Yikes, I'm wondering how much that would cost. Oh, and how's your experience with international shipping been?

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
