We've asked our local distributor to stock it as soon as it comes out... he was surprised that we even heard of it ahead of him :D There's already people in line wanting to buy some!

Excellent!

I really like colors in this range, and am excited to see Salamander compared to others, especially El Lawrence, Burma Road Brown, and Verde Muschiato.

New colors are exciting - I like having more choices!

very nice dark camo green  thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Good Capt., when I saw this ink in your last letter, I loved it immediately... Will definitely treat myself with a bottle.

If its not so much to ask, would it be feasible to do some sort of water permanency test? I am wondering how hardy this ink is...

Of course but I must say that Diamine have always commented to me that none of their regular range have been produced with water-resistance etc as one of the features. What might occur after spillages/dampening/soaking/full submersion are purely incidental. for example, their Presidential and Prussian Blues are remarkably water-resistant but I'd have though that no-one would put inks such as those on a list of 'waterproof' ones. Brilliant inks though they are.

Samples will be written tonight, along with the test and scans up here tomorrow. Along with comparisons as promised a while back. I've been busy...!

Right, here are the scans. I used my usual pads of paper made up from old letter-heads from the University where I once worked. Some of the printed text can occasionally be seen on the reverse.

The Umber was from a cartridge but the rest are from bottles.

The papers were written and then the one for soaking was put in a dish of water for about 30 minutes: rensed and allowed to dry

It's always intriguing to see what colour dye is left behind - not always what is expected!

That's really interesting. Thank you for the comparison and water test. It looks like there is some degree of permanence to each of these.

At second look...why does the "After" look different than the "Before"? Looks like you didn't use the same sheet.

I've just realised what you mean. No I don't use the same sheet but I usually write out two almost identical bits, with the same words or whatever, on each. This time I must have been distracted when doing the Montblanc one as I missed the 'Midnight' off and had to add it at the end! Hence one's in brackets etc etc.

Both sheets written at the same time though with the same pens etc.

Thanks a lot for the review. Quite a bit of feathering on Moleskine but that's to be expected. I am not sure I like the colour - feels a bit too 'military' to me ;-)

Yes, good point. But, the colour is certainly one that appears to a lot of people and of course, it will be the usual Daimine price. From wherever it's purchased.

This Salamander is the fraternal twin of Noodler's Burma Road Brown, easily. With the exception of BRB being more waterfast, though.

I love this color for its subtlety. You kind of have to look at it to see it.

Thank you for posting this, The Good Captain.

I really like how it looks like on the Leuchtturm and Moleskine - it's what I imagine a post-apocalyptic sky might look like. I wonder if that same quality could be reproduced on papers that it doesn't feather on by using a wider nib (or something else)?

I'm not sure. I keep it in a Pelikan 800 with a F nib; granted, it is on the wide side of fine though. No doubt when it is finally readily available, we will see all the different results.

I've heard from Diamine this morning that Salamander will be released in October after 'some unexpected delays'. There is also news of a new set from them as well and if time permits I'll get scans of the new ten colours up on here today or tomorrow.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
