.

He surely has the best prices. The fact is that you have to negotiate with him.

Ok, to make the discussion quantitative, how much percentage off the msrp do you typically get from Engeika after you are done negotiating the price with him?

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

It does not work like this. It depends on the fountain pen. Just an example, if you go for an IZUMO do not go more than $400. You will get this price from Engeika or....your dreams.

Still missing the "White Stripe" MYU and black brother MYU with transparent section!

(Has somebody a "Murex" with a working clock?

(Thanks to Steve I found the "Black Stripe Capless" and the "White Stripe Capless")

:) regarding bargains, One can do much better than 400 with the Izumo. I own a couple of examples myself and that too from Taizo, have been buying for years now. But Ok, I was hoping for some concrete numbers.

My view is this: I think if you get a straight 30% off the Japanese msrp, you are doing good, let the seller eat his bread and wine in peace.

 I thought a price of $400 vs $795 msrp is almost 50% off the price. So, this 50% is not concrete but 30% is...

Well, this guy JUST told me, that I'll have to wait till july for HIM to get the pens from sailor.

I placed the order, and about one week later he told me id have to wait 9-12 days and he would ship it out. I waited 12 days, and emailed him. I got an email the next day saying he contacted sailor, for what im assuming to be THE FIRST TIME and told me Id have to wait untill july to get my pens.

Are you serious? What if this was a graduation gift? WHICH IT IS!!!

I do not know whether I could find someone cheaper, and I am sure that like everyone from time to time he makes mistakes but I generally get good prices and good service even with special items. Personally I use him almost always if I want a japanese pen (or ink for that matter).

If it were a graduation gift then one would hope that you would be clever enough to buy it from someone who keeps a stock, or place the order well ahead of time if you decide to go cheap and buy it from a vendor who in turn will order it from the manufacturer.

Btw, to me your post makes you look like a spoiled little kid who is having a hissy fit.

Got a wancher titanium today, let's just say there's some quality control issue. I would not expect someone selling pen with their own brand on the nib to send me a pen with a nib so badly cut...

Wow, that's terrible.

Obviously, Frenchmen, you should send it back for replacement or reimbursement.

I have no doubt that it will be replaced or refunded immediately.

Errors do happen.

Must say that my experience with engeika and more specifically Mr. Taizo - is an excellent one!

In one of my orders from them I had some issues with the shipment that were not engeika's fault. They went a few extra miles for me to make sure that I am happy!

Already made a few purchases from them, they are always cheaper than others, significantly.

The service is good and the attitude is positive.

The merchandise is always good and the value for money is excellent.

Indeed the correspondence may ba somewhat slow at times but taking into consideration all the rest - that is bearable.

Thus, the task is not so much to see what no one has seen,

but to think what nobody has yet thought,

about that which everybody sees (Erwin Schrodinger)

I didn't know they made their own pens (or least their own engravings), I thought all the Wancher products were just other brands that were re-painted/etc.

It is, at least I think: the nib seems to be the exact replica of the titanium nib use by stipula on their model T.

They also sell stipula pens on their japanese online shop. My guess is that they use the same source for the nib, then put it on a Chinese/Indian pen body like they do with their other Wancher branded product.

Quick update, I received a replacement nib for my Wancher titanium. The service was good, sent a message + a picture of the nib I had. Answer: ''we are sending a replacement nib section to you and we will talk to the pen manufacturer''.

Today I received the replacement nib, it was carefully packed and came to me quickly just like my original order.

The conclusion: good service, nice try, but reality is still the same, I got a second badly cut nib. I will keep the pen cause returning it to japan would be a bigger hassle then anything and also because the pen writes despite the bad cut it's still a usable pen.

My recommendation: good service but don't buy their own branded product. Production quality/quality control isn't there yet...

I'd have expected him to have checked that the replacement at least didn't have the same issue...

I somehow feel the longer slit is intentional, maybe to somewhat mimic the titanium flex but using a cheaper material, perhaps the nib supplier is the same who supplies the other deep slit flex nibs.

the ''deep slit'' is not the problem(it's a flex nib). The problem is that the slit is not cut in the middle of any of the two nibs.

For the Izumo lines, it is around JPY 41,000 to 42,000 in the normal e-market in Japan. That is around US400 for the current exchange rate. So, that price is nothing special. Engeika is also in the same bind as the other e-retailers in this competitive price-driving e-commerce market.

Thank you for the photos. Your pictures speak volumes. The Wancher brand is a sham, in my opinion. I understand I offended some of the Wancher loyalists (if there are any :)) with that comment. But, so be it.:)
