Snail Mail Writing List

I'll throw my hat into the ring, I'd love to have a penpal or two.

I'm 33, from the US but have been living in Japan for the past seven years. I'm essentially a giant nerd but we're all here on a forum devote to fountain pens and ink, so that's probably not that strange. I have a range of interest including reading (sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, non-fiction... big fan of Terry Pratchett), video games (mainly RPGs), martial arts (mainly Iaido at the moment), and of course fountain pens.

I've only really been into fountain pens for about a year and a half. I have mainly Japanese pens (they're local  ) and a couple of Lamy Safaris. Also have a pad of Tomoe River so I think I'm set to write some letters.

Hi Everyone

I'm Dragonfyre_ZA

I'm an Emergency Doctor based in Kwa-Zulu Natal South Africa. I have recently acquired a severe case of fountain pen craziness.

This is a debilitating disease and requires frequent handwritten letters to keep the symptoms at bay.

I would love to correspond with people around the world about any topic, and just make friends

Regards

Dragonfyre

Hi, would love to put my fountain pen to some out of the office use -

I am a 29 year old male attorney living in New Orleans. I enjoy traveling and sports, especially American football, and beer. I grew up in India until grade school and have lived in a few different places in the States since then. If you think it would be fun to exchange stories about my hobbies or learning a little bit about the law, let me know!

Hello again,

I'm looking for new penpals during the summer as I have more free time than ideal. I'm approx 20+ years old and I live in NYC working a generic office job. I've been w/FPN and stationery for almost a decade by now but mostly vintage vs modern pens. Some topics I like to write about pens, inks, cursive, calligraphy, books (YA/fantasy), pets, traveling, music, art, tech, and games.

Sorry, not too interested in discussing politics, sports, tv/movies, guns, and/or religion.

Illegitimi non carborundum

I'm interested in a pen pal. I'm a retired professor of English from a small West Texas university; I'm now residing in San Antonio, Texas. My retirement activity is designing and directing an ethics and professionalism program for a group of geriatrics and palliative medicine fellows at a medical school. I have to say up front that I am completely politically liberal and secular and have no interest in religious discussions of any sort. I read (too much) mystery fiction and not enough non-fiction. I like pens, of course, and would welcome anyone interested in correspondence. My handwriting is legible, I think, but gets better with use. Married for 48 years and blissfully childfree. I'm 77 years old if that matters.

Hi Everyone! I'm currently living in San Francisco, but was born and lived most of my life in Colorado. I'm 39, married and a wedding photographer. I've got a cat, love good beer and need more reasons to write with my beloved pens! I used to be really active here on FPN, but got busy with the photography business and ran out of time to read and post. I'm working on getting back into the forums here and having a few pen pals is a great way to do it! Let me know if you want to receive any letters from SF. I'm happy to chat about anything, even if it's just the pens and inks we use to write with or what the weather is doing.

I've got a blog!

Hi all,

I'm female, and 48 which means I remember having pen pals back in Ye Olden Days :D

I live in Auckland New Zealand and work in a library.

I'm a giant nerd with a love of sci-fi and contemporary fantasy (authors like Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and China Mieville.) and movies like Lord of the Rings. I'm big time into knitting and spinning and I also do dyeing, weaving and crochet. Creativity is extremely important to me. I have a bunch of tattoos and love animals (2 cats and a tortoise currently.) Not big on kids, politics, religion, and very limited gaming experience. Love pop culture in general.

I'd love an excuse to use my fountain pens more, so get in touch if you fancy a bit of snail mail from Middle Earth :)

Hello everyoneI

I'm a 30 years old architect from Italy. Since I just went to live with my girlfriend, and the renovation of our flat has also provided a brand new fancy letterbox, I can't wait to put it in use (along with my inks and pens obviously).

My interest are the most varied, I like a lot reading (actually on my bedside table there are Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami and Graham Greene and Terry Pratchett), cooking (when I have time), playing tennis (with little success), archery (with even less success), computer graphic (I'm specialized in 3d visualization), nerdy things in general and.... just ask, I believe to be quite open to any kind of discussion.
As most of the people here request, just avoid politics and religion, I'm not a fervent believer and as far as politics is concerned, it's not a good argument to discuss in a letter.

So feel free to PM me for exchange address! can't wait!

Hello!

I have been active in the pen pal world for at least fifteen years and I have made some great friends abroad. I would like to meet a pen pal or two and keep my fountain pens busy. I recently found the FPN and decided to create and account and give it a try.

I'm 38, married and born in Spain. I work as a teacher and in my free time I love cycling, hiking and swimming. When it's rainy outside you can find me reading a book or writing letters, listening to music and drinking coffee (tea is fine too).

I'm not good at writing about myself on public forums (due to bad experiences), so if you're interested and you'd like to start writing to me, please send me a PM.

Am aged, intelligent, experienced, learned, wise, educated, literate, funny, and otherwise practically perfect in every way. Humility is also a claimed virtue but, I warn you, I have little to be humble about. I have a sound, thoughtful opinion on most topics and am old enough to actually know something. Formerly a 6-handicap golfer, I now read, fish, listen to classical, etc. music, and take my boxer to the dog park. Married to the same foolish girl for 35 years, we have three grown children, and have traveled a good bit. My wife and I discuss history, foreign policy, and current events. No topic is off the table. C'mon. Give it a try. Contacting me through my profile seems to be the norm here so go to it.

Guess it's time to dip my toe into this thread. I've been writing with a Fountain pen for a long time and use to write much more, think it was about 2 dozen people who I kept in semi-constant contact. Life got to be too much and it fell off to just 3-4. Now that I'm in a different place I am all ready to get my pen and paper for letter writing.

I like paper, pen, inks, wax seals, chops ( china, japan, korean), paper of all types, books of all types although my Kindle gets more use there are some books that can't be appreciated unless they are on paper. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, History, biography and everything in between. Try to lift weights and run but tore a tendon in my ankle so it is recouping now. Also collected playing cards and other card type games.

private message me for the address ( I'd rather keep it private)

And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart-Leigh Bardugo

I would love to try a pen-pal hobby, count me in. I am a 27 year old recent college graduate living in Georgia, United States. I love a ton of different things, and would love to learn and ask questions about your hobbies as well... I think I can learn something from everyone.

justin is 27 in BC Canada

i don't have any fountain pen, i do dip n scratch ;b
i use nortons walnut drawing ink and gillot 404 nibs and.. .staedtler graph paper ? i haven't picked a proper paper yet, but this stuff is okay.
i write clearly and you can read it for sure !

i started writing as a way to shut myself in my room and stay away from my druggy friends ( it worked ) i started with the wide music nibs for doing gothic letters and then bookman and italic but I wanted to write faster and fancier so i figured out what i needed is to get pointed nibs and learn cursive. I practiced by writing "hail marys" and "our father" and "the apostles creed" which helped me memorise the prayers for when i eventually got a rosary ( I got a ww1 replica and I love it )

I'm saving up for a beetle because i missed my beetle ever since i sold it.
i love to play runescape

i take cold showers and i'm concerned for europe.

i think texas is the greatest nation on earth, but china is probably my favorite civilisation
my favorite beer is tsing-tao

i'm bad at the flute so i'm going to sign up for lessons
also going to start going to church more, and when i have a family we will go to church too.
i go running in the morning and on the weekend i get to run in the park on kalamalka lake!
"democracy is a stupid system for stupid people" my favorite thing about canada is having a queen on our money my least favorite thing about canada is the "PC" atmosphere
i did some tests to join the army and i passed them all, but have to wait until april 2018 to continue because I was a degenerate druggy until march this year
my plan for life is to do a career with the army and get married and move to Alberta and live on a big field with a big garden and have kids and then grandkids and when my parents get old they can live with us.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
