Here's a rather quick and dirty iPhone picture of my newest MB, a 421 push-knob alongside my 138 for scale. I got it from fellow member Daynix, and I'm very happy with this little guy. Its like a rollerball, but without the need to press down on the paper.

Congratulations Kevin, I've been really curious about these kind of "rotrings" for a while. Must be a very special item for an architect ;-)

I love the flute clip.

Thanks Carlos! These old stylo's are really quite nice. They are similar to rotrings, but rotrings designed for drafting have the needle cut to a square tip whereas these have a needle cut to a round tip so you can write with them. rotrings are very hard to write with. The flute clip is one of my favorite MB clips, too. As you can imagine, I have an extensive set of rotring style pens that I used to draft with all the time before I made the switch to the computer so getting the fountain pen equivalent is pretty cool.

Hello all,

Today I made my very first Montblanc purchase, and my first vintage pen at that! I've ordered what looks to be a very near mint condition 1960's MB 32 with the enclosed nib. Sorry no picture to share yet... I've been obsessed with these vintage models (22, 24, 32, 34) since I first saw them, and I'm really excited to be getting one. I hope I can follow up with a model that has the open wing nib at some point too...

Immediately after ordering the MB 32, I went ahead and ordered my second Montblanc purchase - a bottle of MB Midnight Blue ink! Now, I've seen the excellent reviews on this ink, and I've read about the cleaning process suggestions when using an iron-gall ink. But I would like just a bit of advice, and reassurance really, that it will be ok to use that ink in the MB 32 pen. So, is that going to be ok? Or should I have any reservations about using an iron-gall ink in the 32? Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions!

Congrats on your purchase. The 32 is a nice pen. I have a 31. As to Iron gall ink I use Iron gall ink in my 31 with no problems. Just remember to flush it regularly and well.

As orfew has mentioned, there's unlikely to be a problem using the Midnight Blue in the 32. I have a 32 and used many current Montblanc inks in it with no problems. I don't specifically remember Midnight Blue though. I haven't taken the 32 apart, but as far as I remember, everything is made of plastic, including the piston seal. As I said, I didn't take it apart, so I may be wrong. If it was the case, I can't see why the Midnight Blue would cause problems.

I have an early 60s 149 and a 232 from 1939 arriving early this next week.

I guess someone replied to your "call for offers" in the classified section ;-) I'm waiting for an early 70s149 too!!! In fact it's already been delivered at my place in Madrid, but I'll be out of town until the 22nd :-(

Is it a mid or an early 60's 149? If it is a mid 60's with a tri color 18c french market nib you will like it.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Mine has the solid ebonite feed, plastic thread and a tri-color 18 c nib, so I gues it is from 1970-1975. Not all 60s and 70s 149s with 18c nibs were for the French market, were they? I've seen 18c 149s in USA adverts from those years (1965-1975) and also featured in a German MB catalogue of 1973.

Its an early 60s with a 14C tricolor nib, one piece barrel, and a round ebonite feed with grooved face.

Yepp, quite a few people did. I honestly find the classifieds here a lot of easier to use than places like eBay. A lot easier to find exactly what I am looking for. Congrats on your 149, as well! I'm looking forward to mine.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
