Advice/Help needed - Fake (163) Montblanc?

Hi all, I hope you're doing great. A newbie into the writing instruments world, not a collector, I just like to have nice/comfortable writing tools I do journal, and having a good pen makes the process of writing way more enjoyable and personal.

Context:

 1. Saw an eBay listing, proceeded to buy since returns were accepted. It had a major redflag, the box, it is an obvious fake (mismatched logos, colors and the packaging itself). The pen itself looked good enough, so I was willing to burn just a few bucks in order to check whether or not the pen was real (if it weren't real, I could just, can, return it).

3. The pen itself: I can't properly date the pen, no Pix logo anywhere, no engraving on the clip. It does "glow" cherryish when lights go through it (both body and cap), the serial number pops nothing when I Google it, there is a scratch on the pen's lower(upper?) part, I'd figue if lacqer scractched that way it would be genuine (but couldn't find any images online of scratched lacquer).  The snowcap has a little unevenness to it. If I were to slide my nail around it, I can catch a small bump, not all around it but just on the vertexes near the clip, there is also a bend on the band.

2. There is a pen shop I had access to (MB authorized dealer by the way), went in and asked whether or not the pen was genuine, the person who I spoke to grabbed the pen, looked at it, used a magnyfing glass on the clip, tried a MB rollerball cartdridge on the pen, and gave me an verdict (professioanl opinion?), it is real. I have my doubts since he told me, the ultimate test is a cartridge, if it fits, then the pen is real, if not, then it is not... By now, I've read multiple posts and threads, seen a bunch of videos, where it is stated that newer generations of replicas are quite good and actually do match some qualities only genuine products would have years ago.

Either a genuine really old 163 or an old fake 163? What's your take on it? I would appreciate your educated comments on the matter.

Thank you for your time, I wish you all the best.

I don’t collect MB, but is it common to take a MB apart so easily? The clip and inner cap isn’t secured in any way?

This rollerball pen can be easily disassembled.

It is not a new pen, the fakes I have seen before were in mint condition. And there is the MB shopkeeper who finds it genuine after scrutinising.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
