I regret not ordering some, once I saw his letter, but it's pretty spendy. Also, I don't want to go down that rabbithole. I will try to remember to bring the letter at the PDXpen meeting!

I would love to see it, thank you. Also, I can go halfsies on a set with you if you ever change your mind.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, FWP Edwards Gardens

MontBlanc 310s F, mystery grey ink left in converter

Sheaffer Jr. Balance ebonized pearl F, Skrip Black

Pelikan M400 Blue striped OM, Troublemaker Abalone

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Thanks so much @fireant & @meiers for many the writing samples.

I've looked at them all many times.

The two I like the most are the MB 149 Origin OBBB and the FS Italic Edge.  They both really "pop!"

All are very nice but those two seem to be really special.

My Schimpf's Italic Delight has arrived at the home of a dear friend in Europe, from where it will eventually end up in my hands. My friend send to me a few pics of the entire package, including the pen herself and the other paraphernalia that Mr. Stolz sent together with the Italic Delight: a personal letter, a notepad block of Schimpf’s fine paper, and a bottle Fritz Schimpf Sundowner ink. Sending such a valuable package directly to the country where I live could optimistically be considered Russian roulette, but realistically a practically guaranteed suicide...

In my plans, the Italic Delight will have a permanent place on my desk as the "fourth" of my Musketeers. The Three Musketeers trio is actually composed by a WE Hemingway, with a reliable Fine nib, the 149 Calligraphy with its fantastic flexible Extra-Fine, and the 149 The Origin with a juicy and stubbish B nib, which I use for the titles of my ramblings and a few other special strokes. They all are ready to use in their MB 149 desk pen stands. The medium italic nib of the Italic Delight would nicely complement the trio of existing nibs, someway completing the tip points that I consider more useful in everyday writing.

While waiting to reach out in person and take possession of my Schimpf's Italic Delight, I have already purchased a new 149 pen stand for her too, to host the D'Artagnan pen on my desk...

In the photograph below you can see the Three Musketeers in their fighting position and, in the one below, the same image (completely gratuitous) taken on the 6x6 film of my Hasselblad 501CM, the same camera that can be glimpsed in the second shot.

I prefer the grey Hemingway:wacko:

Add lightness and simplicate.

Hello fpupulin, may I ask where do you outsource new 149 pen stands? Seems like these are no longer under production and can only be found pre-owned in eBay.

Me too please! I have a Nakaya stand I love using. I'd really love (at least one) 149 stand.

ETA: I use the Nakaya stand for my Nakaya desk pen - my 17 mm is, alas, too thick.

Dear pen pals, all you need is patience and… frantic search!

I bought one of my pen stands from an AD in Italy, which had it at a BIG  discount because nobody wanted it for years…

The last one I found, also in Italy, in one of those local on-line markets. The owners received it as a gift many years ago and never take it out of the box. Now the box is waiting for me in Italy for one of my next trips.

I would suggest you both to search in Google FOR IMAGES of “Montblanc 149 pen stand”, “Montblanc 149 pen holder”, “Montblanc 149 desk”, and “Montblanc 27149”. Following the links of the images you may perhaps find the stand you are looking for.

@fpupulin Many thanks for your tips! I will keep my eyes open and even when I live in USA, seems like fountain pens are not that popular here in my state.

In a similar note, mine arrived today and I am eager to ink my pen and give it a try! I will report later!

Hello! @meiers I still have not decided but I think I will play safe with Montblanc Toffee Brown. Any suggestions?
