Over the years I have collected a few of these fabulous bespoke nibs. While I wait for the latest edition - the Italic Delight - to arrive I wish to share the writing sample that my friend Tom has sent me.

May I ask what paper you’re using? I can see that it’s a lovely laid paper.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 19 currently inked pens:

Parker 88 Place Vendôme F, Quink Washable Blue w/Solv-x

MontBlanc for BMW 146, Colorverse Quasar

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, Sailor Yurameku Itezora

MontBlanc for BMW Starwalker IM, Diamine Moon Dust

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I wrote on the paper Sebastian Stolz used for his note to me. They might have it in stock.

Thank you Matt.  Your writing samples are excellent and your side-by-side nib comparisons are most insightful.

Is it your impression that the Italic Delight nib is the same nib as the Italic 100 nib?  Except, of course, for the 149 vs. 146 size difference?

I’ll check with the store; thank you @meiers!

For me, the 149 produces a slightly thicker line.  I also find the 149  more flexible than the 146. I usually exert minimal pressure on the nib and just let it glide.

You’re very welcome.
I would like to add that all three pens were freshly refilled before I started.

These are writing samples from the three Montblanc 149s I've bought through Fritz Schrimpf. The Italic Edge, the Origin with a OBBB nib, and the Italic Delight.

My handwriting is chicken scratch but I included the sidewriting (Italic Edge) and the upsidedown writing (Italic Delight) so you could see what they look like.

Paper is Musubi Rasa (notebook).

ETA holy cheesballs the picture is huge!!!

I think it’s a handmade paper… possibly this:

The paper Sebastian wrote on is like a thick card stock, nicely textured and heavy.

 Oh, that’s beautiful!

I regret not ordering some, once I saw his letter, but it's pretty spendy. Also, I don't want to go down that rabbithole. I will try to remember to bring the letter at the PDXpen meeting!
