Any chance to see a new Montblanc M?

Hello! Do you think there is any chance of seeing a new model in the Montblanc M collection in the future? I know this model received mixed reviews, but I personally love it and own three out of the four versions: the classic one, the Ultra Black with the orange ring, and the Red Signature in metal (my favorite).

@A1979 On Page 1 of this thread created by @Uncial

@Uncial mentions (15 December 2024): “There is also a metal M with a red feed.”

It sounds similar to the RED Signature pen.  Like you, @A1979, I too am an enthusiast of the “M” fountain pens, dreaded step-down at the forepart|section and all — so much so that I have the variants you named as well as the version in bright red resin.  It will be interesting to see what the new “M” is like.

Thank you very much for your reply. Happy to be in such good company! :) Yes, I saw that mention - I was just surprised by the description, as it seems almost too similar to the Red Signature. Let’s wait and see…

@A1979 The honour is mine!

I was also surprised by the description.  But “metal” is fairly vague so the pen could take any number of appearances.

I also like the Montblanc M series.  It reminds me of the simple Parker 25 that I used during when I was at Uni in the late 1980s.  Unfortunately, I can't justify the price of the Montblanc M series to myself (let alone to my significant other).  I fear that modern Montblanc pens no longer represent value for money and I will stick with my vintage collection.

@austollie I am far too ignorant about vintage fountain pens for my or anyone else’s comfort on the subforum, so I must ask, could you share some information about your collection?  Even the tiniest tidbit of data will help.

Hi NoType,

With absolute pleasure!  See below for an article that I posted on this forum a couple of years ago about my MB Carrera collection.  I am rather obsessed with this line of student pen.  Unfortunately, Montblanc discontinued all student pens by 1980 or so.  Not everyone is a fan of these, but I sure am!

After rewatching this excellent review of the very first Montblanc M…

Montblanc M review - Gerard Zonjee

… it suddenly struck me that 2025 will mark the 10th anniversary of its release. This could be a great reason to introduce a new model this year, if the rumor turns out to be true.

@A1979 Many thanks for the link to this review, which is brand new to me.

I too had not realised that 2025 will usher in the tenth year of the Montblanc M.

I cannot think of a better opportunity to celebrate this milestone than with a new model.

Thank you! Actually, it seems to me that there aren’t many good video reviews of the Montblanc M, or at least not as many as for other models like the Meisterstück. Below are two other good references (at least in my opinion):

Montblanc M Ultra Black - review by “sbrebrown”

Montblanc M Red Signature - review by “Figboot on Pens”

@A1979 That is the situation I encountered as well.  Thank you very much for these links, both to reviews that are new to me.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
