I'm new to the fountain pen game, just got my second ever fountain pen—a Noodler's Creaper—and I have a LAMY Safari that I've kept and used for awhile. I'm an "artist" with the quotation marks being there for a reason. Even still, I love the medium of fountain pens and with how smooth they can write and draw, mixed with all the inks and how much easy customization there is for the end user, it satisfies both my desire to tinker and to draw with.

Welcome to the community. With a Lamy, you can buy spare nibs and experiment with nib sizes. Is that a Travelers Notebook in your photo?  We have a thread here for them, though it’s not very active.

 Yeah, it's a travelers notebook. It's a gift from a friend, I was surprised how much I actively use it.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
