Pen with gold overlay (18k) from little-known french brand Unic. Pen is very small, see photo next to Montblanc 146. I think the pen is very cute

I’m glad it’s working, and I hope you enjoy it every time you bring it with you to work. Oh, the silver celluloid is a total looker, I almost missed it! I love silvery grey celluloid.

  It is very petite mignonne!  I love the way the black comes through the shiny gold overlay. Your collection astounds me.

Unfortunately, my collection is not as large as I would like. but I'm working on it.  

 

There are three “golden” pens left, I’ll show them now. And perhaps in a week another rather interesting golden pen will arrive.

H. M. Smith & Co., “Reliance”. One of the oldest pens in my collection, I think circa 1905. Eyedropper, 9k gold overlay, friction cap.

The celluloid discolored over time and became a bright gold color. And I like this color very much.

I'm sure I showed this picture before.

The MB Noblesse has a silver plated cap. The whole pen polished up better than the picture. All the nibs are 18K, the Noblesse and the C'DA (other a RB) are nails the rest have regular flex/Japanese 'soft', nibs. This was a Live Auction Lot I won. All are @ 1990. The top is a Burl Diplomat.

Steel dip pen from the Caucasus mountain area , my Ukrainian neighbor thought. My Russian neighbor couldn't read it.

This is not quite as 'discolored' as the similar pen above from Tashi_Tsering, but WTH....an Osmia 22 '30's button filler.

Original condition before repair....the green and black is a '36 Pelikan MP, also in that Live Auction Lot.

The early '50's Pelikan tortoise was more gold color than my '56-65 or '90's darker Tortoises. I have the 500 which I showed before and will show here because I don't have a photo of the same color '54 transition 400. It has nib marking, not piston cap marking.

In late '54 (I believe) Pelikan went over to nib marking. I don't have a 400n, but do have 400NN's and by then Pelikan was doing nib marking.

With the 500 they couldn't mark the piston knob because of the rolled gold sleeve...so the nibs are eyeballed. This one an OBBB 30 degree, maxi-semi-flex.....that is a pure signature pen, in writing a 15 letter full legal signature, takes up 2/3rds to 3/4ths of a page.

I can remember when I thought 10-12 pens and ten inks would be more than enough.cubed.

 

Tashi-Tsering you have a grand collection of pens.

 

Watches one only needs 5 mechanical, 5 quartz, and 15 pocket watches. Most of the pocket watches were inherited from my father in law.

And at the cost of cleaning and regulating mechanical pocket watches....quartz makes more sense.

I had saved up more than enough money for my Grail Pen....a Soennecken 111 Extra herringbone...the best pen made in the '50-60's.

I didn't want that in lizard, nor half the 7 or so herringbone colors.

Some few years before, back when I was OMG €50, I saw a Lizard go for €350.

So I had saved up 500....the only one I saw for 6 or so months was a black herringbone I didn't want, by some Idiot Hunter who wanted only $900.

Should have looked in Penboard.de, but either didn't or they didn't have one then.

 

Normally the 500 was so out of my price range, I'd never even knew there any....and the price was not outrageous.....but there I was scraping my gold plated shovel throwing money over my shoulder.

 

So the money burnt a hole in my pocket and ...the bread crumbs trickled out of the hole and a whole flock of Pelikans followed me home.

The 400 and 500 light tortoise were two.....slightly different green marbled CC pens....a 381 and a Celebry...and a Pelikan ink pen stand. and a couple other normal Pelikan's, ... would have to look to jar my memory.

I think I have one of those, but in the sterling.  Or I might be conflating another Morrison with a different overlay, and the Mabie Todd Swan I picked up for super cheap a couple of years ago in a small antiques mall on the western edge of Erie, PA, thinking it was a no-name that someone had put a Parker Lucky Curve nib on at some point (mostly bought it for the nib, and it wasn't until I got home that I realized that there was an imprint on the end of the barrel...).

Sorry, but I found a few more silver/gold pens in my collection. 😕
I was sure that I had run out of them, but I looked in another drawer...

 

Maybe I have too many pens? No, this can't be!

 

S.T. Duponts. Bottom to top:

 

- Montparnasse XL Godron silver plated

- Olympio XL

- Defi Titanium

S.T. Dupont have interesting nibs. They all are rigid, juicy and smooth. 
 

Defi have steel nib with some sweet spot. The section has acceptable comfort.

 

Olympio is very pleasant pen. 

Montparnasse uncomfortable for my grip.
