Montblanc 144 nib and feed

Apologies for cross posting over at the Repair Q&A.

My new to me 144 had a broken feed with half of the feed remaining in the section. How might I remove the remnants of the feed (the nib is already out)? Is there a tool for this. I see that there is a tool for pre 1990s models but that tool doesn't appear to work on my 1990s era 144 as there are no notches for the tool to grab onto.

I'd prefer to remove the feed versus sending it off to Montblanc as I'm not sure the repair cost with Montblanc is worth it given what I paid for the pen.

Thanks in advance for the advise!

If it's just the feed that you want to remove, you should be able to knock it out from behind.

Usually, one would use a hollow tool for cartridge models, to protect the nipple on the end of the feed - but as your feed is already trashed, you can just knock it out with a regular punch/drift.

If you want the whole sleeve out, you would need a tool (or make some sort of tool) to fit the notches in your first photograph. But, you'd still need to knock out the broken feed - and I think it would be easier with the parts already in the section?

I should add that I don't recognise the notch pattern on your pen? I don't have my modern 144 to hand, so can't compare. I've done this job on many of my pens - but never on my modern 144 - so please double check before proceeding!

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still holding out to see if someone has a similar pen and to the extent they've had success removing the sleeve as well as the nib and feed before I attempt. Haven't worked on a MB before. It may also end up at a MB service centre 😁
