Those two cases actually sound more like nicknames, rather than contractions of the original given name.  Friends of mine named their first kid "Elizabeth" but for her entire life her nickname has been "Bunny"....

They do indeed sound like nicknames.

I have only met three women who were known as ‘Flick’, but each of them was actually named ‘Rebecca’.

I have met/heard of four women who were known as ‘Bunty’, and each of them was actually named ‘Sarah’.

The only ‘Flick’ I have heard of who was not a ‘Rebecca’ was ‘Flick Colby’, whose given name is ‘Felicity’. That makes sense as a contraction, but what is going-on with the ‘Flick’-for-Rebecca thing?

Or the ‘Bunty’-for-Sarah thing?

If anyone has met a ‘Flick’ who isn’t named ‘Rebecca’, or a ‘Bunty’ who isn’t named ‘Sarah’, I would love to read about it. It would reassure me these are merely nicknames, and my perception has been skewed by what were indeed only coincidences.

The Russian mood, and even their humor, can be rather dark and cynical. One of my favorite sayings:

"We hoped for the best, but things turned out as usual."

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Thanks for a very interesting, illustrative and useful review. That looks like a most appealing color, but I already have too much red to finish and don't use it as much. It goes into the wish list though.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

is this the ink you wrote in your profile pic?

No. That is Noodler's Red Black. Another beautiful shading ink, that doesn't dry... :)

It is dark isn't it?

Oh, I love this review, but mine looks nothing like that. Mine is a hot pink.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Thank you. I guess, Nathan changed the formula again. Does yours dry fast?

I bought mine ooh gee almost 10 years ago. And it's sort of a fussy ink. I'll pull it out and try it again at some point soon.

@PithyProlixI added a few drops of water in the ink barrel to see if any discernible change in dry times.

I didn't see any difference. To be honest I found it worse.

I cannot recommend this ink, if you use, wide nibs/ wet pens and Japanese papers such as Midori/Tomoe River 68gr.

If you use fine nibs and Rhodia or thick absorbent paper you're fine. It worked fine on Field Notes. There's a bit of feathering but that's about it.

With thin I paper, I don't know.  :)

I'm sure there are other waterproof red inks, which are more acceptable than this.

I can say, for sure Esenin, while not as rich of a colour, is much better behaved....

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
