Diamine Aurora Borealis

Cursive Child

Recommended Posts

Nice, well behaved, ink from Diamine. Well lubricating, vivid blue-green closer to the green end of the spectrum. The significantly compressed scan is showing a greener and lighter tinge than it is. E.g. the Ku-Jaku comparison I have shows up bluer than on the scan.

Nice review of a nice ink. I'd say more a greeny turquoise than a teally one. A shot of yellow wouldn't have hurt. Fits well to the Northern Lights I've seen myself up north in Canada.

Thanks for the review rdugar !

Hi Lapis, you say that this ink is more greeny turquoise than teally. Did you actually see this ink in real life or just on your monitor ? I never saw this ink until today.

I may have to give this one a spin. I'm finding that I like greens for letter writing.

Thank you for showing us that Aurora Borealis by Diamine is a teal/green ink, so I know I should avoid it.

Some of these teal blue/green inks have nice shading, but for some unknown reasons I just can't make myself like this shade of colour.

I use blue inks mostly, and I like most shades of blue (I'm just talking about the colour here, not the other characteristics of the inks), blue-blacks, purple leaning inks, red leaning inks, but not green leaning inks... I also do not love too much turquoise leaning inks (again because they often look greenish).

So thanks for showing us. Diamine has so many other blue inks I still have not tried, I'll probably opt for Imperial next... :)

Thanks everyone. I myself started out with a preference for dark, bright blues, but moved to darker blue greens.

Can anyone give me tips on getting an accurate scan uploaded here? My hp scanner scans a jpeg to about 6 mb. I have to edit and crop to a smaller size, but then fpn reduces the resolution further. The image above is quite different from the original scanned image i see on my laptop.

Have been wondering whether to get this or not, jury's still out, but I appreciate your review and very beautiful handwriting!

Have you tried taking pictures of your reviews? This might help and then you can crop and adjust as necessary. Good luck!

Nice review! I like this ink a lot. The color is great, and the shading is even better :)

I picked up a 30ml bottle of this ink a couple of months ago, and it rapidly became a favorite. Love the teal color, the behavior is very good in any pen I've tried it in, and the moderate water resistance means I can use it on postcards without (too much) fear. Thanks very much for the review!

Good that it is a green-greenish ink.

So now I have 26 or 27 bottles of greenish inks. I don't think I have too much green, thought with half as many blues, I think I have more than enough blue.

My bottle of Aurora Borealis sat hidden, in plain sight for months, and I'd not remembered what color it was supposed to be, when I suddenly found it today.

I do have to look up teal to see more what it could be, or is.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
