2009 Unicef Worth?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I was hoping for some guidance from those much wiser than myself: I received a Meisterstuck Unicef 2009 as a gift in 2011. Not understanding much at the time, I tossed the box. Since I have used it lightly and it is still in great condition. I would like to sell it (hopefully on FPN) for a fair price. How do I figure out what that number is? My plan is to use the funds to purchase a few pens I can be comfortable using on a regular basis. Thank you!

MONTBLANC LEGRAND UNICEF FOUNTAIN PEN SPECIAL EDITION PLATINUM LINE

$389.99

Condition: New

Ended: Dec 11, 2018, 03:24:58 PM PST

The platinum line is a little more valuable than the gold-plated variety.

I am assuming that you have a fountain pen there.

What nib do you have on that pen?

meiers, thank you! It is a fountain pen, I believe it is a medium nib. Your advice is much appreciated.

Does your pen have an ink window?

Is it a cartridge converter pen?

I cannot see an ink window in the above photo. Your pen looks like a Meisterstuck 145 and not the 146.

I suggest inking it and writing with it. Those Montblanc nibs are wonderful.

meiers, thank you for all the great info and advice! From what I can tell from the research I have done, it is indeed a 145. there is no ink window, but it is a cartridge converter. I have used it some and it writes like a dream, but I don't have a lot of sentimental attachment and would like to put the $ towards a few pens I would be more comfortable using on a daily basis.

This thread is only about the market value of the above pen. Pens for sale are offered in the classifieds.

The market value is what buyers actually shell out for the pen and not necessarily what vendors are asking or hoping to get. For this reason, filter your search to include sold items.

In my limited experience, having a box makes a some difference for rare collectors items and writers editions.

If I were you, I would keep this pen as a daily writer.

To answer your original question, my wild guess is that your pen might be valued somewhere around $250.

Welcome to FPN.

If that pen writes well, start using it. You might find it hard to let go. This one is a great start to anyones fountain pen journey.

I agree with meters, the pen you have already is a great pen, a good writer and relatively rare. Just enjoy what you have :-)

With the converter you are able to use a wide selection of bottled ink or international sized cartridges; there are so many options.

Good job, a wise decision if you have no attachment to the instrument.

All the best with your future purchases.

Any idea's? If not, visit the nearest pen store to get started. The finer details/doubts can be ironed out in the forums. thumbup.gif

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
