Diamine Inks

The old unstriped window was more of a blue/grey color as shown on the 146 and I suppose the Dostoevsky. The striped window on my Toscanini and Bernstein are a more vibrant blue. See this photo I could of a Bernstein on the web. My Toscanini is the same color and it has never seen a ml of ink and I bought it new from a boutique.

Is you window that color? If so, it may not be stained, but as intended. IF it is a very different shade then it is likely stained.

Yes, my Bernstein window is exactly this colour.

It took just one fill of diamine blue to permanently stain this pen, if you want to risk an MB then you have been warned.

That's a weird picture. Not sure which Diamine 'blue' you mean as you didn't say. It looks like the ink is only in the double wall part where the plastic is reinforced so the section & barrel don't break when screwed together. That should come out in a USC depending on what USC cleaning fluid you use. Or try to get a flat brush in some soapy water between the parts. Sailor DoYou might also work.

No idea by what is implied by the use of the word 'weird.'

The point I am trying to make is that Parker Inks that have been used previously have caused no staining, one fill with Diamine caused staining.

Any ink that requires specialist cleaning techniques after every fill is not fit for purpose. It should not be neccessary to have to clean a pen after every use to remove stains.

It all depends what you consider to be a specialist cleaning technique. It can't be called 'permanently stained' or 'not fit for purpose' if cleaning with soapy water and a soft brush will remove it. If it was permanently stained, it would all be the same colour. Not just a small defined area.

But maybe you should just carry on using Parker inks if you're happy with those. :) Not Parker Penman Sapphire though as that might stain your pen too. As will most brands of very saturated blue inks.

I commented that the picture is 'weird' because the staining is only in one particular inaccessible place in a demonstrator pen, where any ink could get stuck between the two layers. That is obvious from the straight lines along the top and bottom of the stained part. The Diamine inks I've used don't require any 'specialised cleaning techniques.' However, you should continue to use your own preferred ink choices, like Parker.

I know who you are and I won't be replying to you again.

My favorite Diamine ink Imperial Purple can stain some cartridge after extended use, but besides that I never had any other kind of issue with Diamine ink. I used it in my Princesse Grace de Monaco it has a great flow, although recently changed to Sailor Kobe Sannomia Panse because I like the color better.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
