Coolest Ink Bottles?

Hey Y'all,

Now, I know this is a very nebulous question, and that's why I'm asking it! I love hearing everyone's opinions and thoughts.

What Ink has the coolest looking bottle?

I think the Caran D'Ache ink bottles look really cool, but I also like the Pilot Iroshizuku bottles!

Hi Charles, et al,

My vote for "all-time" would probably go to the OLD Sheaffer bottles with the built-in filling reservoir; however, for current production... I really like Lamy's bottle... perhaps they are my "all-time" choice as well.

A built-in ink well with an integral roll of blotting paper... that's hard to beat! (I only wish their inks were as ingenious as their bottles ;)).

Be well and enjoy life. :)

Hi again, Charles,

I'm afraid I may have mis-interpreted your question... if we're going solely by looks and not design... I think my favorite is the diamond shaped and faceted Waterman bottles, (which aren't a bad design, either... ;) ).

I guess the winner would probably be the Akkerman bottles, not that I've been able to get one.

I'll have to live with my Lamy spinning top and MontBlanc shoe.

Akkerman1 bottle is very special, but not nice for me.

As nice bottle i considerthe Rubinato Deco' bottle.

Hi Fabri00,

If you're referring to the bottle pictured below... that's a new one to me... and yes, it's very attractive. :)

Levenger bottle. Very vintage feel to it.

I thought the Diamine pie shaped bottles from their 150 years celebration series were/are unique to the point of being cool.

Vintage: Carter's square bottles and larger master (cathedral looking) glass bottles.

Modern: Diamine's 80ml bottle, The striped, not dotted version, though I like the artwork on the bottle and box of the dotted version more.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I agree with Fabri00, in what the Art Deco Rubinato's bottle is concerned.

Akkerman's bottles are very nice but they are the remake of a Waterman vintage one.

I quite like Rubinato's hexagonal one, and the japanese vase shapped ones.

Co-incidentally I recently bought a Rubinato hexagonal bottle of ink, but it's waiting for me in the US.

For 'coolness' I love the Graf von Faber-Castell Art Deco bottles and Parker Penman bottles :)

Not unique to Diamine, and were in fact used by L'Artisan Pastellier (and indeed others) long before Diamine's appropriation.

I ordered a visconti bottle one time because I thought it looked really cool.

The ink was black & black is just black to me so, I didn't care.

Huge dissapointment when I got it and found out it was PLASTIC

They should look more like perfume bottles.

Those Visconti ink bottles always look much better in pictures than when you receive one. :( Because they are plastic they are quite unstable, so you need to put them in their plastic outer while you're filling your pen.

Visconti glass bottles look like this:

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
