Review Of Kwz Grey Plum

Recommended Posts

Correction added on 26 April 2017: I ordered new samples of KWZ Brown-Pink and KWZ Grey Plum and confirmed that the ink used in this review was in fact Grey Plum. Originally, the title of this review was "Review of Kwz Brown-Pink" before it was changed to "Review of Kwz Grey Plum". I posted comparison swabs in the comments to show the difference in the inks.

As noted in the comments, it is possible there was a mix-up with the inks, so this could be a review of KWZ Grey Plum and not Brown-Pink. I don't have Grey Plum, but I'll get a sample soon to compare the two. In the meantime, be aware that this could be the wrong color. Here are links to Visvamitra's review of Brown-Pink and White_Lotus' review of Grey Plum.

I'm going to add that KWZ has great customer service.

Thanks for the review. That looks like a really nice purple. I wish it had more shading but I still think I might have to pick up a bottle. I love purples, especially the darker ones - JH Poussiere de Lune on a wet nib is my current favorite. I missed out on Lamy Dark Lilac, unfortunately.

I like the colour, especially in the broader nib examples.. It reminds me a bit of Robert Oster Dark Chocolate, another one where the name doesn't quite (to me) match the colour. I'd have like a bit more shading too. Thanks for the review.

Hi julia 239, thanks for a great review. It seems to me that this is a test of Grey Plum though and it is possible that you have a mislabelled ink, as we had few accidental swaps within the batches numbered 091016 of Grey Plum and Brown Pink. We thought we had replaced all the mistaken ones, but it seems we owe you a replacement too! I'll contact you by PM.

I was wondering how this could be Brown Pink. It doesn't look pink or brown. Grey Plum makes much more sense. I'll have to check my stash & see what colors my bottles are.

Julia, great review! LG thanks for the comparisons.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Well Julia's review matches my experience. The Brown Pink I used before looks like her sample.

Here are my splash cards of these two inks:

Thanks for these. I think mine is Brown-Pink, but I'm getting some Grey Plum and another sample of Brown-Pink to make sure.

I received a sample of Grey Plum and new sample of Brown-Pink, and Agnieszka was correct - my review was of Grey Plum (not Brown-Pink). Sorry for any confusion.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hmm, looking back on my ink journal and my sample of brown pink from Vanness is looking a little grey plum-y. I have a vial of the grey plum sitting somewhere so I'll have to do a side-by-side swab. I loved the ink, regardless of which hue it ended up being!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
