Your pen is lovely, the ink and writing combination very attractive, but your writing partner definitely stole my heart. Adorable!

Dear Tom

I have a soft spot for dogs of all breeds. Your photos of Zuji bring me joy. I am enjoying this thread because you always show us fountain pens in the context of a joyful life.

Dear Tom,

Beautiful Zuji and beautiful pens! There are times when I regret that I taught my dog (another small dog with melting brown marble eyes, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel) to play ball, because she virtually always wants to. However, she is a good sport, gamely resting near me when it's not ball time, and she is a good dog in every way that counts. It is a great benefit to me to have someone who is so easily made happy - a walk or a game of ball is her bliss. I really have to get her a puzzle toy like Zuji's, but small as she is, she has the jaws of a crocodile. The chicken would probably last ten seconds.

Keep the pictures coming, please!

Thank you so much for your kind encouragement.

Julie's vocalizations are remarkably similar to the set of soft sounds Zuji uses to convey his feelings.

Zuji responds to claps with vigorous running. He has verve when it comes to toss and fetch playing.

If I click or make staccato sounds he'll come to me, tail slowly wagging.

He causes laughter when he mews, whines and makes petulant sounds at recalcitrant toys.

A finer and more diverting writing partner could not be found.

I'm so glad that Julie does the same for you. I like your inclusion of a sketch of her.

~ Where I work and live there is a limited supply of genuine “foreign” goods, including fountain pen inks.

The domestic Internet here restricts choice about many items, such that most fountain pen inks are black, with occasional blue black on offer.

Montblanc boutiques have a scant supply of inks in shades other than black or dark blue, but will order them.

Visiting quasi-international stationery shops in Shanghai the limited selection is sobering.

Unlike many other places, a seemingly ordinary order of “foreign” fountain pen ink is a complex transaction here.

When a shipment of six bottles of 80 ml. Diamine ink arrived this morning, I was overjoyed, as it's the first time in several years to acquire anything different.

Here's an image of the newly arrived inks, with all three 149 OBBBs.

My friend, Pravda, had acquired several shades of Diamine ink which satisfied his discerning taste. His perception influenced me.

In going through Fountain Pen Network ink reviews I was impressed by the careful comments by Chrissy concerning many Diamine inks. Her experienced judgment also influenced me.

I'm rich in cool blues, greens and purples, but need more subtle earth tones, hence my selections.

The six ink bottles were well packaged in bubble wrap. They were in a small, sturdy box.

Zuji, ever creative for anything coming his way, found his own use for the ink shipment box.

What a happy day!

Tom K.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
